Mzuri Wildlife Foundation was founded in 1969 to protect the world's wildlife. Mzuri awards grants to little-known, grassroots organizations and programs that often would not exist without our support.

We fund organizations working at the community level to combat poaching, improve habitat, and protect wildlife populations from disease, human conflict and other threats.

We invest in programs that connect people to the natural world through hunting, fishing and other outdoor sports and educational activities. Our goal is to cultivate future generations who will enjoy, appreciate and safeguard the world's wildlife and wild lands.

Welcome back to the Mzuri Wildlife Foundation's grand Big Event Gala, now set against the stunning landscape of Monterey. We want to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and participation in this remarkable journey, where we share the heart of our mission with you.

We are thrilled to reintroduce you to our esteemed speakers. Returning once again due to popular demand. Ivan Carter and Tom Opre, our dynamic duo from last year, are back with fresh insights and updated information on wildlife conservation that promises to inspire and captivate.

Mzuri, Swahili for "good," remains the guiding principle of our mission, and the positive impact we continue to create echoes through the programs we nurture. Established in 1969, the Mzuri Wildlife Foundation has steadfastly worked for over 50 years to champion wildlife conservation and the shooting sports. Our carefully selected and proven programs have paved the way for progress, emphasizing the crucial role of education in preserving global wildlife.

Since our founding in 1969, half of the world's wildlife has disappeared. Partnering with grassroots organizations around the world, we are working to reverse this trend.

We fund programs that connect people to the outdoor world and cultivate future generations who will treasure and protect wildlife and wild lands.

MOZAMBIQUE

In one month alone, the Zambeze Delta anti-poaching patrols run by the Ivan Carter Wildlife Conservation Alliance removed 114 snares and traps, destroyed 8 poachers' camps and aided in the arrest of 3 suspected poachers.

ZIMBABWE

The young elephant. shown opposite, is one of more than 40 animals rescued from snares by Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust last year. Hundreds more are saved each year through the Trust's programs that rehabilitate injured animals, combat illegal wildlife trade and other wildlife crimes, and help local communities mitigate human wildlife conflict.

WORLDWIDE

The award-winning film Killing the Shepherd from the Shepherds of Wildlife Society educates the public on the valuable role of managed hunting to the well-being of indigenous communities and the survival of African wildlife.

UNITED STATES AND AFRICA

Small grantees like the Water for Wildlife Foundation, the Idaho Wildlife Federation and the Bhejane Trust improve wildlife habitat and wildlife management practices to help local species thrive.

SOUTH AFRICA AND ZIMBABWE

In 2023, Mzuri grantees, iThemba Trust and Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust, taught over 1100 young people about wildlife and helped many overcome their fears of the outdoor world.

UNITED STATES

Engaging more people, particularly youth and women, in hunting, fishing and other outdoor sports through programs like Kids Outdoor Sports Camp is vital to the future of wildlife. In 2023 alone, taxes from the sale of firearms and sporting equipment generated a record-breaking $1.6 billion for state wildlife agency conservation and access programs.

Founder & Filmmaker

A film director, cinematographer, television producer, and wildlife conservationist, Tom Opre has made educating the public on wildlife conservation and stewardships issues a main priority. As the past president of the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA), he has worked to help other outdoor communicators and industry leaders understand and present a unified message regarding the top issues facing wildlife conservation today.

Since 1990, Opre has produced and/or directed national television commercial projects for Fortune 500 companies, feature films, and episodic television including wildlife projects for Discovery Channel and PBS. Founder of the Ivan Carter Wildlife Conservation Alliance

A native son of Zimbabwe, Ivan Carter dedicates his life to developing and implementing wildlife conservation solutions that benefit both the animals and the communities that live with them.

Ivan grew up in the bush and has spent more than 200 days a year for the last 30 years in the field as a professional photographic guide, hunting guide, and a leading voice for conservation. With his depth and breadth of knowledge of Africa, her wildlife and her people, he understands the complex layers of the human wildlife conflict and what it takes to address the rampant poaching of Africa's wildlife.

Ivan Carter founded the Wildlife Conservation Alliance to support wildlife conservation initiatives that are truly sustainable, using African solutions to solve African problems.

LA1 Mule Deer Hunt for Two in Montana

This is your opportunity to hunt the beautiful Big Sky Country with Russ Smith, the SCI Outfitter of the Year and past Montana Outfitter President. This territory also has whitetail deer so you may have your choice of trophies.
