SPREADING THE SEEDS OF

HOPE

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness"
– Desmond Tutu

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Choosing hospice care is an act of hope.

When a patient receives a terminal diagnosis, hospice is a choice. And within that choice is the expression of hope, that this final journey still has joy and happiness existing alongside the sadness and fear. Accepting hospice care is the acknowledgement of light despite all of the darkness.

A patient’s hope rests on the care and work of our dedicated hospice team, both the faces of the direct caregivers they see at every visit as well as the staff they never get to meet in person. The work of our staff is tireless, yet their passion is everlasting. I am honored to lead these dedicated individuals, committed to delivering something special every day. They go above and beyond to offer comfort, care, hope and choice to our patients and their families. It is obvious that hospice is truly their “Life’s Work.” Witnessing it on a daily basis continues to be a humbling experience.

I would like to extend the sincere thanks of the Board of Directors as well as the Leadership and Management Team. They all embody the principles of our mission. With everyone’s contribution, we will continue to be a compassionate business, caring for our patients and their families.

It has been my privilege to watch Hospice of the Sacred Heart become an integral part of the community we proudly serve. We look toward the future with the intent to always improve our quality and number of services while acknowledging our past and how much we have already accomplished.

Looking forward to our 19th year committed to putting our patients and their families first.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Bill Flanagan

1957-2022

Hospice of the Sacred Heart lost a board member and dear friend September 20.

Bill was deeply inspired by the mission of care and compassion of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, serving on its board of directors from its founding date.

Bill’s passion for people and helping others was well known by those he touched. His greatest asset was his ability to see the best in other people, along with a keen knack for how to help people through their challenges in life.

Bill was a lover of great music, interesting art, inquiring conversation and a great joke. He was a fantastic father, devoted partner, wonderful brother and fiercely loyal friend.

His greatest personal joy was spending time with the people he loved, especially time with his daughters, Kaitlyn and Krista; fiancée, Nicole; and his larger family and close friends, all of whom have a priceless Bill Flanagan story.
