NEW CANAAN CONNECTICUT
Architect: PHILLIP JOHNSON
THE GLASS HOUSE BY PHILIP JOHNSON,WITH ITS PERFECT PROPORTIONS AND ITS SIMPLICITY, IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE FIRST MOST BRILLIANT WORKS OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE.
COMPLETED IN 1949, THE GLASS HOUSE WAS THE FIRST DESIGN JOHNSON BUILT ON THE PROPERTY. THE ONE-STORY HOUSE HAS A 32’X56’ OPEN FLOOR PLAN ENCLOSED IN 18-FEET-WIDE FLOOR-TO-CEIL`LING SHEETS OF GLASS BETWEEN BLACK STEEL PIERS AND STOCK H-BEAMS THAT ANCHORED THE GLASS IN PLACE . MANY FEATURES CONTRIBUTE TO BEAUTY OF THE HOUSE.
THE CLEAR GLASS PANELS CREATE A SERIES OF LIVELY REFLECTION, INCLUDING THOSE OF THE SURROUNDING TREES,AND PEOPLE WALKING INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE, LAYERING THEM ON TOP OF ONE ANOTHER CREATING EVER CHANGING IMAGES WITH EACH STEP TAKEN AROUND IT.
DECLARED A NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK IN 1997, THE GLASS HOUSE IS CONSIDERED A MODERN MARVEL. THE BEAUTY IN ITS COMPOSITION ALONG WITH THE ROLLING LANDSCAPE HAVE PEOPLE TRAVAILING TO VISIT AND EXPERIENCE IT FIRST HAND EVERYDAY, AND WITH THE LINES OF THE GLASS HOUSE AND THE OTHER BUILDINGS SMOOTHLY BLINDING IN WITH THE LINES OF THE HORIZON AND SURROUNDING LANDSCAPE, ONE CAN FEEL A BREATHTAKING SENSATION OF ENDLESSNESS.

BUNGOPPANG stands as a striking 100 square foot kiosk, boasting a design that draws inspiration from the captivating allure of a fishbowl. Its architectural charm serves as a perfect complement to its world-renowned fish-shaped pastry offerings. Within the confines of this compact space, an immersive experience awaits patrons, carefully crafted to evoke the sensatWion of being submerged in an underwater world.
Every aspect of the design, from the choice of materials to the intricate mechanics, has been meticulously considered to enhance the customer’s journey. The predominant use of glass as the main material not only pays homage to the transparency of a fishbowl but also serves to create an open and inviting atmosphere.
Strategically placed mirror glass pieces serve a dual purpose: they allow for certain areas to be selectively closed off while ingeniously reflecting the mesmerizing sight of the fish pastries being expertly crafted. Thus, the attention of customers is continuously drawn back to the heart of the experience—the delectable treats on offer.
However, it’s the ingenious mechanics integrated into the structure that truly elevate the wow factor. Through carefully engineered components, sections of the kiosk have the ability to fan out, offering flexibility in spatial arrangement and allowing for parts to be partially or completely enclosed as needed. This dynamic feature not only adds a touch of theatricality to the space but also ensures optimal functionality and adaptability.
