JANUARY
Welcome to the Spring Season
This time of the year we are all looking forward to Spring, although when this brochure comes out, which is usually December, we still haven’t eaten the turkey, in fact it’s probably still running around!! And if you can find an elephant after Christmas, apparently they adore eating Christmas trees; don’t forget to take the baubles off! In January regular customers will know that the Theatre ‘Goes Dark’, a funny term that, it basically means for a short time there are no shows. However behind the scenes, away from the public eye there is a hive of activity, some of which takes place all year, but especially in January. A huge Spring Clean takes place, and if it’s nailed down it gets brushed, washed, shampooed, scrubbed, polished, titivated, repaired, put up, taken down, and even the ghost gets an airing. There is an army of volunteers, who behind the scenes, help keep the Theatre clean and tidy, and another army of maintenance people who carry out repair work throughout the year. This brochure cover is dedicated to them. Regarding this Spring’s entertainment, as usual you are spoilt for choice, and there is plenty on offer. Don’t forget you can book in person, online or over the phone, we are always here to help. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

l e e t S Mark
Elkie Brooks Long before the end of a live show and the frequent standing ovations that accompany it, there comes a point where Elkie does something so amazing that it leaves her audience almost spellbound. It could be a particularly emotional rendition of one of her ballads, a powerhouse blues vocal or one of her trademark impossibly long notes that leaves the audience mesmerised.
ALRIGHT ’ S GONNA BE G TLE THIN IT L Y R E V E A few years ago, it seemed unlikely that the UK would vote to leave the EU; we had a reasonable opposition to the Tory Government; Donald Trump was a buffoon who surely wasn’t going to beat Hillary Clinton and Mark was living the married suburban ideal, since then it’s all gone to absolute ****! But don’t worry as Mark thinks Every Little Thing’s Gonna Be Alright.
Elkie will be performing her biggest hits including “Pearl’s A Singer”, “Lilac Wine”, “Fool (If You think It’s Over)”, Don’t Cry Out Loud” & “No More The Fool” as well as many more featured on her recent hit album “Elkie Brooks – Pearls – The Very Best Of”
Mark’s sell-out show Who Do I Think I Am, revealed his natural father was a world backgammon champion. Now the star of Radio 4’s Mark Steel’s in Town, and newspaper columnist of the year is touring a show which is guaranteed to make the world seem even more mental than it is.
