ARCHITECTURE & INTERIOR DESIGN
My name is Shanell Moore. The reason I decided to study architecture and design is because of my passion for drawing and observing buildings, interior spaces, objects, or anything relating to architecture or art. This passion that I have gives me the ability to better learn and understand things pertaining to architecture. I am an architecture graduate and designer with a great passion for learning new things related to architecture and design and am currently seeking a career home in architecture and/or interior design where I can grow in my creativity and design knowledge while contributing to society in the industry.

The purpose of this project is to design a hybrid-building (two-part) that provides a sense of home or inhabiting a place that provides everything that a person would need. The building has four different purposes: residential, insititutional, recreational, and educational. From the first to third level, one building consists of a restaurant, a clinic, a culinary arts school, and a large rooftop garden that is open to the public; and the other building consists of apartments for residents. The building is placed on an empty site located in front of a riverwalk that faces the river and is located at the address of 700 S. Wells Street in the city of Chicago, Illinois.

Exploring concepts such as inhabitation, cultivation, and restoration through research and sketching.
The purpose of the L shape for the residential building is to connect it directly with the public building and to include a courtyard for both residents and visitors.
In this project, which is an apartment for senior citizens in Chicago, Illinois, I chose to work on both the schematic design and the design development phases as shown below and on the next few pages to create interior spaces. My idea was to have all of the semi private spaces open and connected to each other for comfort and convenience and to give close guests or relatives easy access. I also used neutral colors to emphasize calmness and peace to help the senior residents to feel relaxed.

The Illinois Dermatology Institute in Lakeview Chicago was a client at Chicago Design Network, whose request was to have renovations done for the fourth floor of the building. The fourth floor consists of exam rooms, a waiting room, bathrooms, storage, a provider room, reception, and a lab. The scope of work included demolishing and replacing walls and doors. Most existing rooms remained.
