Welcome
On behalf of McMahon Angus and McMahon Colony I would like to thank you for taking a few minutes of your time to go through our offering on our1st Annual Bull Sale. Although these genetics aren’t new to the sale ring McMahon is no stranger to the cattle industry, in 2013 we ventured into the business with some commercial Red Angus cows from Deer Range Red Angus and a handful of black females from another dispersal which now makeup the backbone of the commercial herd. In 2018 we started selecting registered open heifers from Josh and Joel Remple of Running JR which carry a lot of Flying K Red Angus influence. 2022 we purchased 30 more bred cows and open heifers from their program. We’ve offered our bulls private treaty and for use in our commercial program as well. Last year a goose came and laid a golden egg for us with the privilege of purchasing 60 Black Angus cows and a few select open heifers from Glen and Darlene Brier of Glendar Angus. We couldn’t be happier with the calves that come at side that you will find in our bull and heifer pen. So with the good Lord as captain these two programs have put together what we feel is a dynamic duo. We look forward in showing the past customers of Glendar that the goals have not changed as our thinking parallels Glen and Dar’s goals as well as we continue on the same path. The Glendar herd has proven themselves through the years and their breeding ideas mirror ours as well.
Consider this an invitation to join us at Mankota Stockmen Exchange to see the bulls and have a meet and greet. This young set of bulls we will bring to town in hopes to appeal to the most discriminating cattle producer. We will continue to develop the bulls for free until May 1st which we will deliver them after that time.

As with any mission we endeavor on here at McMahon, we trust in the good Lord to captain it. Without him blessing your mission, it’s mission impossible.
We would like to explain a little of what we strive for in our cow herd. We feel once you get to know a breeder’s program its easier to source herd bulls, we strive to produce moderate, hard working cows. Our pastures do not consist of knee high alfalfa / brome grass, we save that land for cereals and pulses. The pastures are made up of waste land that is unable to be farmed which allows us to have multiple breeding fields to run the bulls separately.
We expect our herdsires to walk the talk and get the cows bred in a 50 breeding window naturally. We do not incorporate the use of AI or ET technology, so we let the top cows rise to the top on their own. It is important to us that the cows wean a high percentage of their body weight while rebreeding, the bar has been set and they must produce. Breeding for calving ease without sacrificing growth with sound feet and udders is a must, the calves are never fed creep as we want to know the cows’ true production ability. Supportive feed will add additional weight to the calves so comparing calves that have received different management scenarios is not a fair assessment. It is important to evaluate herds in the manner in which they were raised during the first year of their life. With that we look to source our genetics from breeders which share the same mentality and goals as we do for long term success. We feed out all of our own cattle so we are very much aware that good feed covers bad warts.
It is also of our intention to bring some commercial females to the sale to give a better understanding of our genetics and how the female side of the cattle turn out. We feel the cow is the major factor in the genetics and worth more then half of the herd sire(s) you select. Whether or not this program fits yours we look for feedback as earning and maintaining your business is very important. We look forward to visiting in the future.

Bull Warranty
We guarantee to provide you with a sound, fertile bull capable of servicing a reasonable number of cows. In the event that your bull is a non-satisfactory breeders, the seller will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for more than the original selling price of any bull sold in the sale. The consignors will not provide replacement or credit for physical injury or mismanagement.
Therefore we stress the importance insurance on your bull. An insurance agent will be available sale day.
Terms of the Sale
TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash, cheque, or previously arranged financing. Settlement is to be made following the completion of the sale, to the clerks of the sale. Animals will not be released until settlement is made. All monies are in Canadian funds.
DISPUTES: Bidding will be re-opened between the parties involved in a dispute. If there is no advance by either party, the buyer will be the person from which the auctioneer received the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final in these cases.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: All announcements made from the block will take precedence over any printed material from the catalogue. Therefore buyers should pay close attention for such announcements.
BREEDING GUARANTEE: All cattle are sold as sound and right and sell with a “Responsible Breeder’s Guarantee of Satisfaction”. In the unlikely event of a dispute, the regular sale terms and conditions, standard with the Canadian Angus Association shall apply.
SOUNDNESS EVALUATION: All bulls will be semen tested prior to the sale and will have be accompanied, at time of delivery, by a semen certificate that meets or exceeds the CAA standard of 70%.
RISK: Ownership risk to the purchaser commences when the auctioneers hammer falls. Insurance is available sale day.
LIABILITIES: All people attending the sale do so at their own risk. Although every precaution will be made to ensure the safety and protection of both buyer and the livestock, the auctioneer and the sellers accept no responsibility in this matter and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of an accident or loss of property.
