Empower Her is the young adult division of the National Council of Jewish Women NSW. Our purpose and goal is to engage the young adult Jewish communityinwomen’sissuesandadvocacy.Youngadultscangetinvolvedby attending our events, including fundraisers for women’s health and wellbeing causes, workshops to create kits (e.g. sanitary, childbirth) for women and girls whodonothaveaccesstobasichygieneneeds,paneldiscussionsonrelevant topics such as women in the workplace, and social events to learn from and connectwithotherwomenofdiversebackgrounds.

STAND UP

Stand Up exists because Jewish values implore us to stand up and take responsibilityforthoseinneed.Whetheritberaisingfundsforvictimsofnatural disasters,runningleadershiptraining,orhelpinganewlyarrivedrefugeefinda job,pursuingsocialjusticeisourultimategoal.

Stand up runs several programs including the long running Derech Eretz Program. Stand Up has a unique and enduring relationship with the predominantly Aboriginal communities of Toomelah and Boggabilla. For 17 years, the affectionately titled ‘Jewish mob’ and these communities have fostered long-lasting friendships based on mutual respect, admiration and a desiretolearnandgrowfromoneanother.

THE GREAT SYNAGOGUE

The Great Synagogue is an Orthodox congregation in the centre of the City of Sydney that welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds to its events and services. If you work in the CBD, then our weekday Shacharit and Mincha services will be convenient, and the breakfast on Thursday after Shacharit is popular with Young Adults and others alike.
