Worship Services
Sunday at Shalimar
Traditions: 8AM & 11AM Meet us in the Sanctuary as we celebrate through the rich traditions of our faith. Such as hymns led by organ and piano, seasonal vestments, and Traditional Methodist liturgy. Our Chancel Choir leads the 11AM service. Connect: 9:30AM Join us in the Sanctuary as we engage in a fourfold services of gathering, praise, service of the Word, Holy Communion with candle stations of prayer, and sending forth. Worship is a blend of contemporary praise songs and upbeat hymns. Freedom: 11:07AM Located in the Family Life Center Gym as we come together and worship through modern music, Fellowship time, and listen to an inspirational message in a contemporary atmosphere.

“A Goal of $45,000 for Ukraine Family”

Our church is sponsoring a family from Ukraine seeking to relocate in our area. We are partnering with
Samaritan’s Purse in this endeavor. We now know the Tysiachnyi family is scheduled to be here later this month. You will be hearing much more about this extraordinary outreach of our church, in the coming weeks. The sponsorship for our Ukrainian family is for one year. The financial support needed from our church is $45,000. Beginning this Sunday, August 7, 2022, we will begin receiving a special offering that will continue throughout the month. Our goal is to raise the entire amount through the generosity of our congregation. Our Finance Committee has established a designated fund for all who would like to contribute to this family. Please indicate on your checks and memo “UKRAINE PROJECT.” Would it not be great if our congregation could give $45,000 for this family in the month of August? We can do it! The special offering, of course, is beyond our normal giving and will be received at our worship services every Sunday in the month of August. You may also give anytime during the week. You can give online, mail, or drop by the church office. Also, there is a backstory to this wonderful opportunity. This is not the first time our church has sponsored a family from a war- torn country. In the 1970’s, our church sponsored a Vietnamese family. Our congregation stepped up then with love and finances. The family transitioned very well, made this their home, and became highly successful in the community. The success of this story is one of the highlights of ministry from another era. Decades later we have an opportunity to do it again! Another chance to show Christ’s love to a family seeking a new home. Our congregation is so generous and always seems to step up to show our love. Let us see if we can meet this goal in the next month! We can all help with a special gift toward reaching our goal of $45,000. Let us all join in and show our love to our new neighbors the Tysiachnyi family.

The fall is coming in full swing here at Shalimar! We want to invite you and your family to our Open House on August 14 at 5PM. This is an opportunity to learn more about all age level programs, bible studies/small groups, and events coming up in the fall. There will be food, activities, and giveaways so you won’t want to miss it!
This is our Welcoming sermon series! We have a choice to make as a disciple of Christ: Am I going to welcome everyone in to experience the grace of Jesus or am I going to keep it to myself and push people out. We will look at examples of Jesus extending hospitality to those that many thought were not worthy. Join us to explore if we are truly living into the welcoming nature of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ or are we too busy excluding others from the Grace of God?
With school starting back up we would like to inform you of our After School Care program and Preschool openings! We have a few spots left for our After School Care program. For more information, please contact our After School Director, Dawn Rozofsky. Preschool still has openings for 3-year-old and 4-year-old for the fall and their first day of school is September 2nd. For more information, please contact our Preschool Director, Karen Jadin.
Pastor Matt will be sharing his Bible study for Commissioning in the UMC this fall. This study will be for adults of all ages and stages on their faith journey. Join Ron and Robin Garriga as they lead through the study “Love to Stay” by Adam Hamilton. This study will seek to offer a place where couples can share together about not only falling in love but look at how to stay in love. Learning about God’s love for us and our love for our spouse will be the keys to growing in our covenant relationships. All couples are invited to attend but we want to encourage new couples to commit together for the 7 weeks. Childcare will be provided. Wednesday | 6-7PM | August 17 - September 28

Wednesday | 9:30-11:30AM August 17 - October 26 God of Deliverance Bible study is a study on Exodus 1-18 which explores the exodus of the Israelites--the Hebrew people being delivered from bondage to freedom so they could worship the one true God. In this 10-session study, Jen Wilkin shows us that Israel’s story is our story, the same God who delivered Israel also delivers all those He loves from slavery to sin and pharaohs of the world. He lifts our eyes to the promised land He has prepared where we dwell with I AM and worship Him as the one true God.
