Whether you are looking for excitement or a quiet place to relax, SandVenture Aquatic Park will fit the bill. The unique pool was modeled after area lakes and offers a sand-bottom, chlorinated pool. PLAY the ponies Canterbury Park Canterbury Park features some of the most exciting horse racing in the country, with a season of live thoroughbred and quarter horse racing from early-May through midSeptember. Even when horses aren’t running at Canterbury, the racing continues. Thanks to 500 televisions, Canterbury’s Race Book is home to yearround simulcast wagering from America’s top tracks.

One of the largest outdoor music festivals in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro takes place every mid-July at Lakefront Park in nearby Prior Lake. The Lakefront Music Fest is a two-day concert series with one day dedicated to rock and the other to country.

From the Shakopee Dakotah to the settlers at The Landing during the 1880s, Shakopee has an abundance of historical sites to enjoy during your next visit. Nestled along the banks of the Minnesota River, this 88-acre living-history park explores the charms and challenges of life in the Lower Minnesota River

Valley from the 1840s to the 1890s. Visit the fur trader’s cabin and learn how beaver pelts were transformed into gold. Discover a pioneer-era farmstead and see if you have what it takes to carve a new life for yourself on the frontier. Stroll the streets of Eagle Creek, a recreated turn-of-the19th-century river town, and learn about the daily life of its residents. A large part of the history of Shakopee and the Minnesota Valley Region includes the

SMSC story told through their new Cultural Center, scheduled to open in 2019. The design of the center honors and reflects the values and culture in every detail of its construction. The 84,000-square-foot center will feature a permanent exhibit space, library/media center, artifact collections, and more. Come to the Wacipi grounds August 16 – 18 for the 2019 Wacipi. The Pathways of Shakopee History interpretive project, a partnership between the

Shakopee Heritage Society and the City of Shakopee, is a way-finding system to help educate residents and visitors on Shakopee’s rich history of people, events, and cultural influence. Each area will include a kiosk where visitors will be able to see by 360 degrees the direction of historic locations throughout the park area.

different reasons. The leaves are changing, and the weather is spectacular. Trips through the Minnesota River Valley during the Fall season will not disappoint. Apple farms are abundant throughout the Minnesota River Valley region, with many just minutes outside of Shakopee. Minnesota Harvest near Jordan offers over 25 different varieties of apples to pick during their harvest season.
