Tonight we pay special tribute to two Shaker Schools faculty members who have been at the forefront of educational equity for more than 30 years, Mary Lynne McGovern and Hubert McIntryre.

When the MAC Scholars program formed in 1990, it was led by a group of African American male students who were concerned about academic achievement among their peers. While the students took the lead in this initiative, these two faculty members became the faculty advisors who stood by their side and championed their efforts. Over the next three decades, this dynamic duo provided guidance and encouragement to hundreds of young men, many of whom will share their appreciation this evening.
