Reunion Giving:

Celebrating Your Shaker Experience As you plan the events for your upcoming reunion, we know you are excited for a special weekend reminiscing with “old” friends about your Shaker days and making new memories. We invite you to use this occasion to make a class gift to the Shaker Schools Foundation to honor your experience and support today’s Shaker students. The Reunion Giving program is led by volunteers from each reunion class who offer the opportunity to classmates to be part of a class gift and give back to Shaker Schools. We hope this effort will raise awareness about the Shaker Schools Foundation and encourage participation at any level. We are grateful for all who support our schools.

Class Giving Highlights Class of 1950/51 Alumni from the Class of 1950/51 have worked tirelessly over the past decade with the goal of providing additional academic support for our students. To date, the combined classes have raised more than $290,000 to support initiatives such as a Summer Academy to help academically at-risk students transition successfully to the High School, and a new social and emotional curriculum being piloted at Lomond and Woodbury. Joan Beyer Levy, who has helped coordinate many of their class reunions, says the secret to their success has come from the bond they feel as class members. “The older we get, the more nostalgic we become. There is a strong sense of shared experience, and it is great to connect again.” Burt Griffin, another member of the class, echoes her sentiments. “A lot of us felt that Shaker was the foundation for all the good things that happened in our lives. It really opened doors for us. We had reached a time in our lives when we were ready to give back: it was just the right thing to do.”

Class of 1968 In honor of their 50th reunion, alumni from the Class of 1968 established the Class of 1968 Innovation Fund to support STEAM initiatives that provide hands-on learning experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. We are grateful that the Class of 1968 worked together to create this special legacy for future Shaker students.
