It’s been a few months since I went to the underground group, Anoniem’s meeting. I hadn’t heard from anyone, and had gotten a real job here so I’ve been busier than I expected. I got a text from Delilah the other day saying that Aaliyah was planning on shutting down the security for at least 5 minutes. She told me that she knew it didn’t seem like a very long time, but she thought that it was enough to show the government that things are going to change, and info will spread. She also informed me that a lot of people were going to reach out to their relatives and tell them what was really happening within those five undocumented minutes. *** The security shut down, and a loud siren screeched. The screaming of the siren almost drowned out any thought that could have been conceived in the moment. It startled the people outside that I was watching when the shutdown happened. I immediately called my friends and family from home, telling them that it was happening now and that I had something to tell them, and that they would have to reach out to the news to spread what’s going on. Police were running out on the streets, guarding every corner. They had cameras on their heads, similar to a Gopro (outdated reference I know), letting everyone know silently that they still weren’t safe outside. But inside, I knew everyone was doing exactly what was planned a few months ago. *** I awoke the next day to banging on my door. When I opened it, the entire hall was filled with police officers. Emma: Hi, what’s going on? Police: You’re being deported. Please stand back and put up your hands. I didn’t comply and asked more questions Emma: For what reason? Police: You are being deported. Please stand back and put your hands up. The argument seemed to last forever, and any question I asked was swiftly evaded, as if they somehow knew what was going to come out of my mind next. I reassured myself that that would be literally impossible, but the thought stayed with me long enough that I complied, and moved to go pack my things. They told me to not move, and I listened. I stopped in my tracks. They informed me that they would be packing my things for me and that I would be escorted to a special train that has room for all my belongings. I would be held there until my belongings were done. Basic
