01- WARDAN: A BOUTIQUE HOUSE
“Wardan: The Boutique House” is a semester project that revitalizes a historic colonial-era structure in Srinagar, once home to Maharaja Hari Singh’s brother-in-law. This INTACH-listed building is now a comprehensive bridal and groom destination, offering curated collections of attire, footwear, accessories, and on-site salon services.
To preserve the building’s heritage, an appointment-only system ensures a personalized experience for each couple. A dedicated photoshoot green room captures special moments, while a charming cafe and pergola-covered dining area in the garden provide relaxation for up to 15 guests.
“Wardan: The Boutique House” balances heritage preservation with modern needs, creating a unique destination that celebrates Srinagar’s history while catering to the contemporary couple.

CONCEPT | FORM DEVELOPMENT
The design concept for this development draws inspiration from the organic flow and fragmentation of dripping honey. The built area given is fragmented into six distinct blocks, each with its unique function and character, promoting diverse use and pedestrian exploration. These blocks are then reconnected through a series of bridges, symbolizing the continuous flow and interconnectedness found in nature. This biomimetic approach results in a dynamic and visually engaging composition, enhancing circulation and creating a sense of harmony with the natural world.

NOMAD HUT WITH A TENSILE ROOF OVER
Design concept harmonizes with the contours of Safapora’s orchid-laden hills. Hybrid log-and-tent huts are nestled into the landscape, maximizing views of the valley, village, and Manasbal Lake. The layout follows the natural topography, allowing spring water to flow through the village like a miniature Jhelum River. Rustic log bases anchor the structures, while tensile roofs offer flexibility and openness. Large openings frame panoramic vistas, connecting guests to the serene beauty of the Kashmir Valley.

04-AKHUN MULLAH SHAH : DOCUMENTION
Akhund Mullah Shah mosque, a hidden gem in the heart of Srinagar, was built in 1649 by Dara Shikoh, son of Jehangir, as a memorial for his revered teacher, Akhund Mullah Shah. Nestled at the foot of the Makhdoom Sahab Shrine, this architectural marvel is locally known as Mala Shah Mashid, a mosque within a mosque. The mosque’s unique design features a prime sanctuary completely separated from the main building by a serene courtyard. A striking stone lotus crowns the podium, adding to its distinctive character. The architecture echoes the Mughal style prevalent in India, with intricate details and harmonious proportions. Notably, the mosque was constructed using gray limestone, a material rarely employed in Mughal structures, adding to its historical significance. This hidden gem is a testament to Dara Shikoh’s reverence for his teacher and offers a glimpse into the rich architectural heritage of the region.

05- THE SOTTSASS ABODE : OFFICE
In this office design, a captivating interplay unfolds between the raw power of Brutalism and the playful subversion championed by Ettore Sottsass. Exposed concrete textures juxtapose with unexpected pops of color, while monumental forms find themselves counterbalanced by whimsical details. Here, creativity thrives in the tension between structure and surprise.
