The following data was taken from a Qualtrics survey sent to all students who applied for a scholarship in the Fall of 2023. Of these students, there were 11 respondents.
COMMENTS FROM STUDENTS
No additional comments, it was a really great and helpful experience overall that I’m grateful for. This is a suggestion that I don’t feel like could be implemented easily and is moreso a funding issue but seeing if there is a way to have more people available in OPES overall, I feel like having only one major faculty mentor is a bit much for many hopeful applicants.
I have no comments. They were very helpful! I sincerely appreciated all of Dr. Hoffman’s encouragement throughout the Rhodes process. The Rhodes application is naturally really taxing (especially when you decide to apply the day before the internal deadline) - it meant the world to me to walk into Dr. Hoffman’s office and hear encouragement throughout such a vulnerable time. I am so thankful to the OPES for all of their support. This experience has forced me to reconcile any doubts I had. You cannot nor you shouldn’t get imposter syndrome. These essays are difficult to write but you are capable of winning. It’s all about taking the chance.
Overall, I felt very supported when working with the office of prestigious external scholarships.
