Physical Education will equip learners with both a depth and breadth of knowledge, understanding and skills relating to scientific, socio-cultural and practical aspects of physical education.

Progression Opportunities
This course will prepare learners for the further study of PE or sports science courses as well as other related subject areas such as Psychology, Sociology and Biology. Learners will also develop the transferable skills that are in demand by Higher Education, and employers in all sectors of industry.
Subject Visits and Enrichment Opportunities
Students have the opportunity to join one of the many sports team including: boys football, girls football, rugby, netball and tennis.
Assessment Overview
Component 1 (Theory) 3 exams with 70% weighting.
Exam 1 - 2 hour paper, 90marks • Physiological factors affecting performance
Exam 2 - 1 hour paper, 60 marks • Psychological factors affecting performance
Exam 3 - 1 hour paper, 60 marks Socio-cultural issues in physical activity and sport
Component 2 (Practical) Assessment of 1 practical activity/controlled assessment task with 30% weighting.
• Performance or Coaching in chosen sport and Evaluation and Analysis of Performance for Improvement (EAPI) Entry Requirements
• Grade 5 PE
• Grade 4 in Science
• Must perform in a sport at club level or higher
