The future of St George Library

BRISTOL City Council is looking for “opportunities for community-led activities and partnerships to create a library service for the future.”

The intention is to bring local people and organisations together to look at the future of the library service – including St George Library.

There has been a long stream of consultations about the library service in Bristol, with the council now looking for a “community-led” solution.

It is not known at this stage whether the council intends to have libraries operated by local groups, or if they are looking for greater community involvement in the existing library service.

Bristol City Council told the Voice: “The library service is greatly valued but it needs to change to be more relevant to the

neighbourhood and local people. We need to work together to create a library service which will serve future generations and be well connected to everything else that’s going on in the local area.”
