The Bowls Section Committee would like to thank the outgoing Committee and all our Members for moving the whole Section forward last year. The following were elected as the 2022 office bearers for the Bowls Section: • Convenor – Christian Huang • Captain – Mary Lim • Treasurer – Josephine Lim • Secretary – Bob Gattie • JSM Representative – Shermeen Lim • Committee Members – Anne Marie Gutierrez and Melvin Tan

After a spate of disruptions due to COVID-19 and travelling Members, the curtains closed for the SCC Drawn Pairs in early 2022. It was an extremely popular event, attracting 39 bowlers. The standard of play was stupendous, with many matches going the distance and down to the wire. This was the first tournament where we debuted the use of technology to post fixtures, update live scores and share results. Special appreciation must be reserved for Section Committee Member Melvin Tan, who was the sole webmaster.

19 teams were split into four groups, with the top two of each group advancing to the quarterfinals. Interestingly, all table toppers were toppled in the quarterfinals. The first semifinal was an all-ladies affair, with Mary and Jennifer victorious against Josephine and Peck Tee 20-10. In the other match, Atiff and Retna stormed to a 24-4 win against KC and Anwar to set up an enticing final. In the quest for glory, Mary and Jennifer proved too good for Atiff and Retna and strolled away with a 18-8 victory.
