I trust by now, you have recognized that I do not skirt tough topics nor do I try to white-wash the truth. I feel if I am not honest and transparent, then your trust in me starts lacking.The great author John Maxwell says this about trust, ““Character makes trust possible, and trust is the foundation of leadership.” I start my article by addressing our situation regarding the recent hailstorm. The facts are this: 1. Yes, we have insurance.
2. The adjusters have been on site, but we have not yet received their final report. They have verbally indicated that every roof system, including the gutters, are 100% totaled. There will be other incidental items such as garage doors, windows, window trim, etc that will be added to the claim.
3. We have been vigilant and active in applying cover or patches to prevent infiltration of water into homes so to prevent further damage. The Premier Rehab building has suffered tremendous damage.So much, that we have decided to close the building. Some of the building is worthy of occupancy but our supportive services have been interrupted (kitchen and laundry), thereby we are closing in phases. We have already relocated residents to the lodge and will not be admitting new residents Those remaining are expected to be discharged over the next 2 weeks.
4. We have contracted professional and dependable companies to replace the roofs once we get through the negotiations with the adjuster for all the approved work. 5. Roof replacement will be coordinated in order of importance and necessity. Every home will get a new roof. Expect to see multiple crews working simultaneously throughout the campus. Please continue to be observant and report any evidence of water spots or stains in your ceilings.
6. Company vehicles have also been damaged. 6 have been totaled and 7 will get repaired. 4 of our golf carts or side-by-sides were also damaged.
Please pray with us as we manage this very large and substantial insurance claim. The claim total will be millions of dollars. We will need favor with the adjusters, the contractors, material availability and finances. Our deductible is quite large, large enough that we are reevaluating our expansion and construction timeframe.
For those of you affected by this storm, I pray for the favor of the Lord over your situation.
On Tuesday, June 30 we will take the bus to the Gardens Senior Living Facility for their annual firework display and vendor fair. Come out for a fun night of fireworks, food trucks, live entertainment, games, and vendors! This is a free event but you do need to bring cash with you to shop the vendor booths and food trucks. You also need to bring a lawn chair. If you don’t have a lawn chair let us know and we will make arrangements to bring one for you. LUNCH AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER
The Community Center Dining Room is serving a buffet lunch each Wednesday. The buffet is available 11:30AM-1PM and the cost is only $5 per person. Each Friday morning we take the bus to Walmart at 8:30AM. We’ll drop you off and pick you up at the door while you stock up on groceries, visit the pharmacy, or simply window shop. We have found an option to provide footcare and want to get your feedback! How many of you would be interested in continuing with appointments held at the Community Center for $30 per session billed to your account? The available providers we have found do not accept insurance so this would be the only option at this time. The footcare providers have a minimum requirement, so it is important we hear from you. On June 30, 1859, Jean-François Gravelet, better known by his stage name Charles Blondin, made history on June 30, 1859, as the first person to walk a tightrope across Niagara Falls. This daring feat captivated audiences and solidified his reputation as one of the most remarkable funambulists of his time. Blondin's tightrope was suspended over 1,100 feet (approximately 335 meters) across the gorge and about 160 feet (approximately 49 meters) above the rushing waters of the Niagara River. The event drew a crowd of around 25,000 spectators who watched in awe as Blondin performed his crossing with extraordinary balance and composure. Not content with just a simple walk, Blondin added thrilling variations to his act in subsequent crossings, including walking blindfolded, on stilts, and even carrying his manager on his back. His fearless exploits at Niagara Falls remain a legendary testament to human courage and showmanship.
