CEO Report Happy New Year! How quickly time passes. This year will bring with it lots of exciting events to Maranatha. I continue to meet weekly with architects and engineers discussing future construction projects. Our first project to break ground will likely be a new house on West Haven Terrace. With a second home starting shortly thereafter. Tell your friends. We have three lots remaining on this road. They could build their future forever home and save money. The savings to build on these lots are because the infrastructure is complete and there is none of these cost added to the totals. The Second project to break ground will be a new 5-plex on the corner of Maranatha Lane, east of Premier Rehab. This will consist of 2 one-bedroom and 3 two-bedroom units. We will have floor plans available at our next town hall meeting for viewing. One other project that will be started this spring is relocating our laundry facilities. We are moving this service to our basement of the Lodge. Continue to pray with us as many decisions still need to be made and details planned out. God is good! Thank you to those who have decided to donate to our campaign. Many of you have responded to my request and I couldn’t be more grateful. Look for more details concerning our efforts to underwrite our capital investments with a formal campaign next year. I would ask you to consider making Maranatha a beneficiary in your estate. There are many avenues of giving to Maranatha including: Qualified Charitable Distribution, Charitable Remainder trust, Charitable gift annuity, Charitable Bequest and Donor-Advised fund. Each of these has different benefits. Please speak with your personal advisor to determine which would be best for you. I am praying that God place giving to Maranatha on your heart today. Bingo is not just about winning candy or other prizes but is a great time for fellowship with your friends and neighbors. We always have fun at Bingo with lots of laughs and smiles all around! LUNCH AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER The Community Center Dining Room is serving a buffet lunch each Wednesday. The buffet is available 11:30AM-1PM and the cost is only $5 per person. No reservations are required and you are welcome to bring guests. A full menu will be emailed and available for pick up at the Community Center. We are also interested in your ideas for the menu. WEEKLY WALMART TRIP
TAX PREPARATION
Each Friday morning we take the bus to Walmart at 8:30AM. Stock up on groceries, visit the pharmacy, or simply window shop. If you would like to take advantage of this service please contact us (417-833-6104 or sgaines@mvlife.org).
It’s that time of year again... tax season! Peggy Horn will be at the Community Center to prepare your taxes at no charge to you, but you must make an appointment. She will be here from 9AM-1PM on February 11, 18, 25 and March 4, and 11. Appointment slots are 30 minutes long. Please bring all of the necessary tax papers when you come to your appointment. TUESDAY BIBLE STUDY ANNOUNCEMENT After five years of faithful service, Dr David Ringer has retired from teaching the Tuesday morning Bible Study. We are happy to announce that Robert Strand is taking over the class beginning January 6. The Bible Study is held at the Community Center Tuesday mornings at 10:15AM.
COFFEE & BAGEL BAR The last Thursday of each month is the coffee & bagel bar at the Community Center. This month it will be held on January 29. No sign up is required. Stop by anytime between 9-11AM to enjoy a tasty bagel, cup of coffee, and fellowship with friends!
VILLAGE PRAYER “If weak in prayer, we are weak everywhere.” -Leonard Ravenhill. Join your neighbors at the Community Center each Friday at 1PM for Village Prayer. This hour of prayer focuses on the needs of the Maranatha community and staff. Many among us are sick, facing loss, praying for miracles, and just needing a touch from God. Come out to the Community Center on Thursday, January 15 at 1:30PM for Popcorn & a Movie! We will watch the powerful Christian drama, “I Believe.” This film tells the story of nine-yearold Brian, who has a supernatural encounter with God and his quest to learn more about God and Christians that follows, despite opposition from his dad who is an atheist. PRODIGALS Each Tuesday at 1PM we hold a prayer meeting specifically focused on praying for family members who have gone away from God. This meeting is held in the Community Center and last around 1 hour. For more information contact Chaplain Oberg (417-833-0016 ext 1420 or soberg@mvlife.org).
