DON'T QUIT
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up, though the pace seems slowYou might succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor's cup. And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside outThe silver tint of the clouds of doubtAnd you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hitIt's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Michael “Scott” Davison Memorial Football Achievement Award
Scott was a three-year letter-winner at split end and wide receiver. He earned All-City Honors in 1991, catching 28 passes for 495 yards, 21 first downs and scored 7 touchdowns, including two against Woodward in the “Hall of Fame” Bowl. Scott graduated on June 6, 1992. He died five days later. A Memorial Football Achievement Award Fund has been established at St. Francis in Scott’s memory. This award has been presented annually since the 1992-93 season. The award winner will have his name inscribed on a memorial plaque which will hang in the school. That plaque reads:
To the senior football player who consistently, through extra efforts in the most difficult of situations, conquered the challenges presented to him, to bring the honor and glory of victory to St. Francis de Sales High School, and in doing so, has left his family, friends, and teammates memories forever!

We hope that this memorial will recall for those who knew Scott or saw him play, a vision of his achievement and the joy his extra effort created for each of us. Hopefully, it will also help the young men who follow him at St. Francis de Sales School to be consciously aware of how short their lives can be, and inspire them to put forth the extra efforts that can change significantly the lives of those around them.
