Four days is fine Kirby senior Kaylee Cogburn, right, and sophomore Kylee Crump have every Friday off at Arkansas’ first school district to switch to a four-day week. Kirby made the move in 2019. Now there are 16 districts and charter schools with four-day weeks. One of those is Atkins, whose superintendent previously brought the four-day week to Bigelow-based East End. Others are considering it. A four-day week is common in Missouri and Oklahoma. Kirby administrators said it’s helped attract and keep teachers and improved student morale. Kaylee uses the day to help with her sister, who is deaf, and do work for an online Virtual Arkansas class. Kylee does college work.
