A good session for schools
After an often controversial legislative session, the one thing we can all agree about is that schools did well financially. Lawmakers increased per pupil foundation funding and provided an extra $185 per student to school districts that needed help reaching Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s higher targeted median teacher salary. The day Hutchinson signed the bill, the El Dorado School Board approved a $2,000 teacher salary increase. That was good news for Superintendent Jim Tucker and teacher/ coach Ashlee Curtis, who both attended the bill signing.
