We use the Microsoft Surface Pro because it’s designed for learning. • As one of the only Microsoft Showcase schools in the Midwest, St. Francis High School has become an authority on Microsoft-focused mobile learning. • The Surface Pro makes school easier for students and educators to navigate the curriculum. It has the ability to run apps and the full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, and Publisher). It includes a pen stylus and great keyboard, integrates to the Cloud, and stays charged all day.
The OneNote Class Notebook app
allows teachers to create a virtual “binder” for each class. Teachers can add to or edit materials for easy access by students. OneNote has a personal work space, a content library for handouts, and a collaboration space for lessons,creative activities, and projects.

A green room; two 3-D printers; a high-end desktop; and two Microsoft Surface Studios-28” screens for painting, drafting, video, 3-D imaging, and more. • A highly technical classroom, the Creator Space prepares students for college majors in STEM, business, art, and technology. • Also a flexible classroom, the Creator Space changes in configuration depending on what students are learning- electronics, specialty software for Intro to Engineering, 3-D printing, 3-D modeling, coding, robotics, art, or start-up incubators and accelerators for Business entrepreneurship. • Students may use the Creator Space for group and personal projects, as well.
Digital Literacy class teaches students how to use their technology We require a Digital Literacy class to help every freshman start school on the same technological page, teaching formatting skills in Microsoft Word, Excel basics, and block-based coding. Additionally, units such as résumés and job hunting, digital content creation, and how to spot "fake news" gives students real world skills within the classroom. St. Francis High School leadership development focuses on opportunity, growth, and success. This leadership program motivates every student all four years. It’s part of the SFHS path to fulfill potential in and beyond the classroom.
All-School Leadership Mindset All students begin exploring leadership with the book “Mindset” by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D. Using this study aid and the life of Saint Francis as a springboard to common conversation and practice, student leaders embrace opportunities to build the "Francis Mindset" throughout the year. Teachers, coaches, and moderators join in, making real-time connections and inspiring students to grow academically, personally, and spiritually.
National Honor Society (NHS): These honor students have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Chapter members offer peer tutoring as well as school and community service. Student Ambassador Leadership Team (SALT): Dedicated to representing St. Francis

Formal leadership groups
High School, SALT members serve as school liaisons, spokespersons, and advocates. They develop leadership skills by working with administration, faculty, students, and the Admissions Office to promote the mission of St. Francis High School.
Student Government: Elected class representatives plan school functions, charity collections, popular events, and dances. They also consider how to make each year better for the student body. Involved students develop leadership skills and a deeper sense of peer responsibility. Student Ministry Team (SMT): Committed
to living the talk by loving God and loving others, members help prepare Christian service activities, lead retreats, and provide opportunities for spiritual formation. SMT members learn tools to help and lead other students.

St. Francis High School seeks qualified, enthusiastic students who are committed to their education and are excited about being part of our community. To learn more about you, the Admissions Committee will look at your middle school record, results of your Admissions Test, and involvement at your current school. All candidates for admission to grade 9 are expected to take the Entrance Exam, otherwise known as the High School Placement Test (HSPT). We give admissions preference and scholarship opportunity to students who test at St. Francis High School.

Tuition Assistance Opportunities
Transportation
St. Francis High School Scholarships Alumni, parents, and friends have given generously to establish scholarships to provide financial assistance for qualified students. Students must take the Entrance Exam at St. Francis High School in order to be eligible for scholarships. The typical gift award runs between $1,000-3,500. Scholarship forms are due to the Admissions Office by March 2, 2020.
St. Francis High School provides busing for students in surrounding communities. Two-way service will be provided in the Northern, Western, and Southern suburbs – arriving at SFHS by 7:25 a.m. and departing school after the Activity Period at 3:15 p.m.
Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program Kazma Family Scholarship Tuition Assistance Grant Alumni Registration Fee Waiver The St. Francis High School Alumni Association has established a benefit for any child of a St. Francis High School alum. Those who register are eligible for a registration fee waiver.
Financial Aid We encourage families who feel the need for financial assistance to apply for financial aid. Applying for financial aid is separate from and has no effect on an admissions application. Any family interested in applying for financial aid should apply online at online.factsmgt.com by March 2, 2020. Family Tuition Reduction We value our SFHS families. Families with three or more dependent children attending St. Francis High School during the same year are eligible for a tuition discount.
