REPUBLICAN PROPOSAL WOULD ELIMINATE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

ARepublican lawmaker filed a bill on Feb. 28 that would effectively eliminate the Democratic Party in Florida.

SB 1248, known as the Ultimate Cancel Act, would cancel any political party that “has previously advocated for, or been in support of, slavery or involuntary servitude.”

If passed, voters of any canceled party would have their party affiliation automatically changed to “no party affiliation.”

“For years now, leftist activists have been trying to cancel people and companies for things they have said or done in the past,” State Sen. Blaise Ingoglia, R-Spring Hill, said in a statement. “This includes the removal of statues and memorials and the renaming of buildings. Using this standard, it would be hypocritical not to cancel the Democrat Party itself for the same reason.”
