Eachmonthwewilltrytosharetipswhichmayhelpyouinyourquiltingandsewing experience,andevengetthoseprojectsreadyforalongarmer!

Sewingupanddown.

Haveyoueverdonestrippedquiltingandrealizedthe topandbottomwhichshouldbethesame,isoffa fewinches?Orhasawonky-nesstoit?

ThiswasthefirstquiltKimevermade Whenshe madethestripeborder,sheneverturnedthedirection ofhersewing,justkeptaddingapieceandgoingup. Nowherquilthas24blocksonthetop,and22onthe bottom.

Byalternatingsewingdirection,the quiltwillstaymoresquare.

Piecingyourback.

Sometimesyoujustcan’tfindtheperfectwidebackthatyouwant.Wegetit!Maybe10% oftheprintsweseefromourdistributorshaveamatchingwideback.Andifyoureally wantthatquilttomatch,thenyoumayneedtopiecetogether2or3piecesofthe regular43"-44"fabric.Ifyouwanttokeepyourlongarmerhappy,hereiswhatyouneed toknow.

Sizematters!

Ifyouaretakingyourquilttoa long-armer,askthemhow muchextratheyneed.The backneedstobeATMINIMUM 3"largerpersideofyourquilt top.Thisquiltneedstobe pinnedorclamped,sothe extrafabricisimperative!

Horizontalseams!

Bykeepingyourseams runninghorizontal,you willkeepthebackfrom telescopingwhen loadingtoquilt.

Largerseamallowance. Whenpiecingyourback, don’tusethestandard 1/4".Havingaseamthat is1/2-1"andpressing themopengivesthat backmorestability.
