Love Your Library Month Results! Many thanks are in order for the wonderful outpouring of support and donations that Sewickley Public Library received during the month of September. The Lunch with a Librarian campaign raised over $400 and the guest bartending night at Sidelines Beer House raised over $750 in tips! The annual Friends’ of the Library Harvest Book Sale brought in $4,797 and we sold out of Savoring Sewickley Tickets within the first three days of October. In addition to these special events, we also received $4,716 in general, memorial, honor, and annual appeal donations. All of these appreciated gifts will help us earn a deserved portion of the Jack Buncher match pool for Love your Library Month. Thanks again for all of your support during this campaign!
Improvements to Library Requests and Delivery Did you know that Sewickley Library users request more than 60,000 books, and media a year from other libraries in Allegheny County (and beyond)? Through our shared catalog consortium, library users have access to over 1 million items and more than 70,000 digital items! Those items are delivered to and from public libraries in Allegheny County Monday through Friday. In September Sewickley began participation in a new delivery check-in system. The new check-in system is an effort to improve efficiency and accuracy with deliveries. Please note that delivery occurs in the morning, but it takes staff a few hours to process and shelve the hundreds of delivery items received. Because of the improved check-in process, items may appear to be “Ready For Pickup” but may not be on the holds pickup shelf yet. If this is the case, a staff member would be happy to assist you in locating the item.
