XOXO: Project on Love & Forgiveness Four years ago, The Children ’s Museum of Pittsburgh created the exhibit, X O X O : A n E x h ib it ab o u t Love & Forgiveness with support from The Grable Foundation and The Fetzer Institute. Through engaging activities, the exhibit was designed to help us consider what makes us sad, mad and happy, think about love, and think about forgiveness. And play. The Children ’s Museum is excited to share some of these activities from their pop-up, XOXO:
Project on Love and Forgiveness, at venues throughout the city. The Sewickley Public Library is pleased to have the museum to spend the day with us on Saturday, January 12 from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. A l l a ge s are welcome to come play and explore the XOXO Project!
The Work of Sharon G. Flake With millions of books in print, Sharon G. Flake has earned an international reputation as one of the top children ’s and young adult authors in the country today. Her breakout novel, T h e S k in I'm In , established her reputation as a must read author among middle and high school students, as well as teachers, parents and librarians. Flake has penned nine novels, including Pinned, a book about a struggling reader and gifted wrestler, a historical mystery novel Unstoppable Octobia May, and a clever picture book called Y o u A re N o t a C at . She has earned numerous awards and recognitions, including several Coretta Scott King

Battle of the Books 2019 kicks -off this month! Fourth and Fifth graders who are interested should have an Allegheny County Library card, form a team of 5, and attend the appropriate informational meeting. The Penguin Book Shop will be at the Kick -off Meetings if you would like to purchase your Battle Books. As always, we will have library books available for check out. Tax Forms The PA Department of Revenue has discontinued printing tax forms in bulk, which means SPL will not have a supply to distribute. We can print any tax forms or instructions at a discounted rate of $0.05/page. Please see a Reference Librarian if you need assistance or have any questions. The 7-week course runs from January 4 - February 22 and will include a pre and post-test, and each session will be a combination of exercises to improve balance, strength and flexibility. Practical information for making your home a safe place will also be included. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring an exercise mat or blanket.
