Welding Technology at Seward County Community College What is Welding Technology?
The welding technology program at SCCC trains students to become skilled artisans combining both art and science in their profession. Welders hold an important place in modern industry, working in manufacturing, construction, maintenance, and repair. Students use up-to-date welding equipment as they obtain hands-on experience and assemble projects from the public or from blue prints in the campus welding shop. Needed in any industry where metal is used, students in the SCCC welding program learn entry level and advanced welding involving the fusion of metals using an electric arc or gas torch to create the desired project.
Certificate and Degree Options Available
Associate of Applied Science: 64-credit program (2 years) Certificate of Completion: 10 month program
Career Opportunities Graduates of the SCCC welding technology program have the opportunity to find employment as welders, tack welders, operators, helpers, assemblers, shop owners, inspectors, shop supervisors, sales people, and engineers.
