Truck Driving/CDL at Seward County Community College What is Truck Driving/CDL? Obtaining your truck driving/commercial driver license (CDL) certificate provides the opportunity to transport goods and materials locally, regionally or long distance. At SCCC, you’ll receive handson training with up-to-date, conventional tractors and 48’ to 53’ trailers. Additional program highlights include hands-on training in coupling and uncoupling, inspections, and air brake adjustments; vehicle equipment control, set up and inspections; basic maneuvering and handling; over the road records management; preventative maintenance; driver proficiency; National Safety Council DDC; First Aid/CPR; and OSHA forklift certification. **Federal Financial Aid through SCCC is not available for this program.

Certification in Entry Level Truck Driving (6 week, 264 hour program)

Career Opportunities

Upon graduation, students will be prepared to enter the work-force, equipped with a Class-A Commercial Driving License (CDL). As one of the fastest growing job markets in the country, the field of truck driving offers many different opportunities for individuals. Graduates can pursue employment as an owner/operator, team driver, company driver, long haul driver (48 states and Canada), regional driver (1000 miles from home terminal), or local driver (200 miles from home terminal).
