SCCC Student Activities - Club Descriptions Block and Bridle The Block and Bridle club, a national organization, sponsors many agricultural events, such as district livestock judging contests, spring pig sale, district FFA contests, cookouts, and other agriculture related activities. Membership is open to anyone interested in ag-related fields. Sponsors: Nick Noterman and Josh Morris, 620-417-1354. Campus Messengers for Christ (CMC) A non-denominational student organization open to anyone for fellowship and encouragement of one another in Christ. Sponsor: J.J. Widener, 620-417-1202. Cheerleading and Dance Cheerleaders and dancers represent SCCC at sports, campus, and community events. Participants earn one credit hour and scholarships are available. Sponsor: Carisa Owen, 620-417-1565. Choir Open to any students who like to sing and perform for various activities. Students enrolled in Chorus I-IV receive one hour of credit and scholarships are available. Sponsor: Magda Silva, 620-417-1462. Circle K Empowering students to make an impact through service and leadership in their community. Sponsor: Wade Lyon, 620-417-1064. Crusader Newspaper Staff Crusader staff members commit to competently and fairly reporting the news of the SCCC campus and giving readers a quality product while learning life and career skills. Drama Club This club fosters and develops a love of theater among its members. Student members represent the club with an outstanding outlook on college life. Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) This interdenominational Christian sports ministry focuses on seeing the world impacted through the influence of coaches and athletes receiving and sharing their faith in Jesus Christ. SCCC Student Activities - Club Descriptions Future Technology Professionals (FTP) Helps develop a better understanding of information technology and promotes a professional, progressive attitude among members. Sponsors: Rusty Tuman, 620-417-1358. Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) An on-campus club dedicated to supporting the community, fostering and developing leadership skills of its members, and embracing the Hispanic culture. Club activities include planning events such as the Red Cross blood drive, coordinating Hispanic Heritage Month activities, and attending leadership conferences. The club is open to anyone interested in the Hispanic culture. Sponsor: Frances Brown, 620-417-1300. Kappa Beta Delta An organization designed to promote personal and professional improvement while encouraging and recognizing scholarship and accomplishment among students of business, management, and administration. Participants must have a minimum 3.25 grade point average. Sponsor: Hiran Gunasekara, 620-417-1355. Kylix Art Club Open to students enrolled in art courses or those who share an interest in fine arts and desire artistic interaction. The Kylix Art Club sponsors a number of workshops, activities, sales, and trips for participants. Students participate in art exhibits and regularly attend other exhibits. Pathways Pathways is a division sponsored student club that provides advising, activities, and study groups for students in science, technology, engineering, and math. Open to all science, math, engineering, and technology students, education is approached via learning communities known as Focus Interest Groups. Sponsor: Don Hayes, 620-417-1505. Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Phi Beta Lambda is the world’s largest professional business fraternity, helping members prepare for careers in business. To become a member, enroll in Business Marketing/Management Seminar I, II, III, or IV. PBL students have the opportunity to apply for a full book scholarship each semester. Sponsor: Lisa Kennedy, 620-417-1363 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Phi Theta Kappa recognizes the academic achievements of participants and provides opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. Individuals with a 3.5 grade point average or higher after the first semester of college are eligible for this community college

Refrigerator Service Engineers Society (RSES) The RSES provides opportunities for participants to develop leadership skills and professionalism. It also enhances technical competences through opportunities to participate in various programs related to area industries, including but limited to heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R). Skills USA A national organization of high school, college, and professional members who are enrolled in training programs in technical, health, skilled and service occupations. Students Promoting Education Careers (SPEC) An organization where participants are able to learn more about becoming an educator and participate in sharing and social activities related to the education profession. Open to students enrolled or interested in education as a field of study. Sponsors: Janice Northerns, 620-417-1456. Student Government Association (SGA) Protects and promotes student’s rights and interests at SCCC. Sponsor: Wade Lyon, 620417-1064. Students Nurses Association (SNA) Encourages participation and leadership in the nursing field at SCCC. Sponsor: Shayla McElvania, 620-417-1424. Veterans’ Club Provides military Veterans, and their families, with the necessary resources, support, advocacy, and camaraderie needed to acclimate themselves into SCCC life. SCCC Student Activities - Information & Schedule SCCC’s office of student life organizes a variety of intramural sports activities for students throughout the year. The offerings vary and include additions based on student interest. Long-time favorites include flag football, 3-on-3 basketball, and dodge ball. We have also organized faculty-student tournaments, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee golf, Capture the Flag, scavenger hunts, volleyball, sand volleyball, and water fights. Information about intramural competitions is generally posted in Hobble Hallway and the Student Union. Students can also contact Wade Lyon, Director of Student Life, with questions or suggestions. SCCC Student Activities - Team Form & Wavier
SCCC Student Activities - 3-on-3 Rules/Regs. ELIGIBILITY: •All participants are subject to Intramurals Eligibility Rules, which are outlined on the Entry/Wavier Form. • All participants are required to read and sign Roster/Wavier Form. • Teams can have 6 players on their roster. • Participants may not participate on more than one team. • Participants must be enrolled in at least 1 credit hour at SCCC THE GAME: • Rock, Paper, Scissors or shoot will be used to determine who receives the ball first. • Teams consist of 3 players; however, a team may start with a minimum of 2 players. • NO DUNKING ALLOWED. • Play will be on half of a regulation basketball court. The half court division line will be considered and end line for out of bounds. • Games will be self-officiated. Fouls are to be called by the player fouled with ball possession taken out-of-bounds by the fouled team at the spot closest to where the foul occurred. Fouls must be called loud and clear. If teams do not agree on the foul call, the ball goes back to the team having possession during the play and play begins again. If the two teams cannot resolve the conflict, then a double forfeit will be recorded. • No free throws will be attempted • For a foul in the act of shooting and the basket is missed, the ball is to be taken out-of-bounds at the point nearest to where the foul occurred. • For a foul in the act of shooting and the basket is made, points will be awarded and the ball will be given back to the team that scored. • Five personal fouls will disqualify the player for the remainder of the game. An individual may be disqualified after on flagrant or intentional foul. • If you receive a technical foul you will be suspended for the rest of the game. A second technical foul is suspension for the rest of the game and the next game, and a third technical foul is suspension for the remainder of the season. • Two 60 second time-outs will be allowed to each team. • The winning team will be the first to gain 25 points (you do not have to win by two). There is a 20 minute time limit. • Scoring - two points for each basket and three points from behind the three point arc. EQUIPMENT: • All team members need to wear similar colored shirts. • Intramurals Department will provide a basketball for play. • All participants must remove all jewelry. • Court shoes must be worn, street shoes or any shoes that will mark the gym floor are unacceptable.
SCCC Student Activities - 3-on-3 Rules/Regs. LIVE AND DEAD BALL: • Checking the ball - a defensive player must handle the ball prior to putting the ball in play after a dead ball situation (foul or out-of-bounds) or after a basket has been made. • Following defensive rebounds or a change of possession, the ball must be returned past the three point arc. CODE OF CONDUCT: • Understand, appreciate, and abide by the rules of the game. • Respect the integrity and judgment of game officials. • Respect your opponent and congratulate them in a courteous manner following each match, whether in victory or defeat. • Be responsible for your actions and maintain self-control. • Do not taunt or bait opponents. • Refrain from using foul or abusive language.
