Natural Gas Compression Technology at Seward County Community College
What is Natural Gas Compression Technology?
Students in the natural gas compression technology (NGCT) program at SCCC learn precision measurement, workplace skills, engine theory, basic electricity and circuits, metal fabrication, basic welding, repairing compressors and engines, compressor theory, mounting and aligning compressors, and preventative maintenance of engines and compressors. Students participate in an internship at the end of their studies that prepares them for the workforce and gives them experience working within the industry. The natural gas compression technology program was developed in cooperation with regional gas production, transport, and service companies. This assures students receive the best possible training as determined by potential employers.

Associate of Applied Science: 68-credit program (2 years) NGCT Certificate: 51-credit program (1 year)
Career Opportunities The Natural Gas Compression Technology program at SCCC prepares students for entrance into the natural gas industry as entry level maintenance technicians. Graduates may find job opportunities in natural gas production facilities, manufacturing and packaging companies, transportation entities, consulting and contracting firms, and agriculture service and repair.
