HVACR at Seward County Community College What is HVACR?

Heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) technicians work with the various systems, machines and technologies used in indoor settings such as homes, offices, and transportation systems that need enviornmental regulation to improve comfort.

The SCCC HVACR program provides students with knowledge in residential and commerical refrigeration, basic and related electricity, theory of cooling and heating, blueprint reading, safety procedures, installation and trouble shooting of equipment, and customer relations.

In addition, students train using state-of-the-art equipment including a simulated air controlled enviornment and simulated refrigeration system to learn techniques to diagnose, repair and install commercial and residential refrigeration and furnace systems.

Associate of Applied Science: 64-credit program (2 years) Certificate of Completion: 10 months

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the SCCC HVACR program have the opportunity to work in HVACR technology, independently owned facilities, corporate repair facilities, electrical maintenance, and installation and service technology.
