English at Seward County Community College What is English?
Students pursuing their English degree at SCCC learn the writing, reading, and critical thinking skills necessary to succeed as a professional. As students read, discuss, and write about important works, they are able to gain a deeper understanding of cultural and historical influences, as well as the relevance of literature to their own lives. Students have access to up-to-date computer labs, library services, and a staffed writing center, as well as opportunities to participate in a number of clubs on campus, including being on staff for the student newspaper or writing for the annual Telolith publication. A degree in English from SCCC provides students with a firm foundation in courses that can be transfered to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor’s degree.
