Drafting and Design Technology at Seward County Community College
What is Drafting and Design Technology?
The drafting and design technology program at SCCC trains students in the art of converting concepts, sketches, and ideas of engineers and architects into detailed drawings for manufacturing, construction, and engineering. The program is designed to develop drafting skills and learn related fundamentals for manufacturing, engineering, building construction, surveying, and design. Students are prepared for employment as a drafter/technician as they develop skills such as neatness, accuracy, speed, teamwork, and problem-solving. With handson experience utilizing Autodesk products, SolidWorks and Chief Architect, students work on projects with local manufacturers, builders and surveyors to understand the needs of the industry.

Associate of Applied Science: 67-credit program (2 years) Certificate of Completion: 10 months
Career Opportunities
Drafting and design technology graduates have the opportunity to work in fields including: engineering, architecture, manufacturing concerns, construction, local, state and federal government agencies, product and building inspection, surveying, quality control, and facility and traffic planning.
