Automotive Technology at Seward County Community College What is Automotive Technology?
Automotive technology encompasses the inspection, repair and maintenance of a vehicle’s mechanical and electronic systems. Students in the SCCC automotive technology program train on how to accurately diagnose and skillfully repair late model cars and light trucks. As part of this National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation certified program, students learn basic mechanical skills as well as complex diagnostic procedures while receiving hands-on training, working with up-to-date equipment such as electronic test equipment, computerized information systems, and professional quality tools. Students also have the opportunity to working on real-world projects, provided by local customers.

Career Opportunities
Automotive technology careers are available in many different areas but typically include diagnosing and repairing the mechanical systems of vehicles. Students who complete the automotive technology program at SCCC have the opportunity to work in areas such as general car mechanic, light truck mechanic, auto parts sales associate, automotive repair service manager, garage owner, and engine repair tech.
