Starting this summer SPCC is expanding the SEALS program menu to include visual arts classes and partnering with the Special Olympics of Maryland to offer Basketball clinics and Young Athlete programs.
• V isual arts projects range from designing a mural to picture taking and creating a slide show.
• The Special Olympic basketball clinics are designed to teach and develop skills for playing any number of basketball games.
• S pecial Olympics Young Athlete program is a sport and play program for children with and without intellectual disabilities, ages 7 years old. Young Athletes introduce basic sport skills, like running, kicking, and throwing. Young Athletes offer families, teachers, caregivers, and people from the community the chance to share the joy of sports with all children.
Learning to swim is one of the most important life skills to acquire. Not only those that often visit pools and the beach need to learn to swim, but also those who participate in water recreational activities, anglers, boaters, and anyone else that may find themselves around the water.
At Severna Park Community Center, experienced instructors teach both children and adults water safety combined with swimming skills. Instructors teach rules for safe swimming, treading water, floating, and life jacket safety while also instructing participants on breath control, body position, leg and arm movements. This combined approach follows what leading swim lesson experts suggest for a balanced swimming and water safety program.
• S PCC offers weekday & weekend lessons year-round, all levels for children and adults starting at 6 months of age.
• G roup lessons are scheduled weekday mornings and evenings, Saturday mornings, and Sunday afternoons.
• Private swimming lessons are also available at all times of the day and evening.
DO NOT WAIT, LEARN TO BE WATER SAFE NOW.
THE THERAPY POOL ONLY IS CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE AUGUST 4 – SEPTEMBER 1.
Except for arthritis, gentle joints, and physical therapy, ALL THERAPY POOL PROGRAMS, TO INCLUDE SWIM LESSONS, WILL PROCEED in the main pool per the summer pool and program schedule.
