They have been such a prominent part of my life and I appreciate them sticking with me throughout it. I’d also like to thank the friends and friendly people I have met here at Severn who have been so kind towards me and helping me in finding myself. The same applies to Mr. Giddings, Mr. Redei, and Dr. Patterson for all their work in the theater department and making the shows I was in amazing experiences I would not trade for anything. Additionally, I thank Ms. Campbell, a former teacher who supported my interests and passions including my series of “Mort” drawings on the board, and Mr. Donn for sparking my passion for music and putting up with my recurring band room invasions. Without them, I would definitely not feel as free as I do to express my creativity. Severn School has been a great four years for me, and I hope to find people as amazing as those in this school at St. John’s.

A Message from the Editor This year’s 2022-2023 Severn Yearbook title, “Let’s Actually Glow” was inspired by the Adaptive Challenge the students created in the summer. This was our first normal year back since COVID, so we wanted to make this year’s yearbook special. Although the Yearbook staff was one of the biggest we’ve had in many years, we still faced many challenges. Documenting this year was tough, with tracking down teachers and students while also trying to be in the right place at the right time. From dressing up for Wacky Wednesday, to supporting friends on the field or on stage, to pouring your heart out at Trivia Night, there’s never a dull moment here at Severn. This year we tried something different. In contrast to previous yearbooks with white or light color backgrounds, we decided to go with black, matching our theme perfectly. Doing this shows the new start to Severn, our first real year back since the 2018-2019 school year. Since this year marks that turning point, we felt as though it was best to show this in our yearbook. The contrast of the black background and neon colors makes this year stand out from the rest. When you go through this yearbook I hope you share smiles and laughter with your friends. And in the years to come, when you flip through these pages, I hope we are all reminded of the fun memories shared within our community. These past couple of years have shown us that we never know what will happen next. I advise you all to take every opportunity given and to not take anything for granted.
