hairman’s Address
It gives me great pleasure to welcome Pontyclun FC to the welfare ground at Onllwyn this afternoon, we had a great welcome earlier in the season, where they took all 3 points in a very close competitive game.
This used to be a regular fixture, and there’s been some great battles over the years in the old Welsh League structure. Now we meet in the Ardal South West league, on our new home ground at Onllwyn, following the recent merger which has not only enabled us to improve our ground to tier 3 requirements, but put us back playing at a level we believe we deserve to be.
I know Barry Quinn, now managing Pontyclun was asking about our former striker Nigel Westall last time we met, and was keen for a catch up today, so hopefully the clubhouse will be full afterwards with past and present players.
We are relishing the difficult task ahead today. They are a very difficult team to break down, stats and the league table don’t lie. So, we’ll need a far stronger performance than last week, but I’m sure the boys already know that.
Please enjoy the game, we’ll show the same hospitality, Barry and his team showed us up there and have a drink in the club afterwards, I look forward to the continued support throughout the season.
Leighton Williams
