HEAL COUNTRY!

This term we celebrated NAIDOC Week here at Sevenoaks and embraced this year's theme, HEAL COUNTRY! Aboriginal students ran the opening ceremony which included a Welcome to Country by Kayleen Hayward, traditional dancing, and a didgeridoo performance. This was followed by dot painting, reconciliation hand messages, jewellery making and the opportunity to try damper with kangaroo, emu and crocodile meat. Thank you to all the students and staff who made sure the activities ran smoothly and made the day memorable for all those involved.

R U OK? DAY

This year to celebrate R U Ok? Day, Student Services ran a number of activities over two days including: guess the number of yellow jellybeans, decorate a pancake, mindfulness colouring station, rock scavenger hunt, badge making, photo booth with props, and live music in the courtyard. We even managed to get a fantastic photo of students and staff from the sky thanks to Mr Mavros' expert drone work. R U OK? Day may be over for another year, but it is vital we keep the conversations going. Any day that you are concerned someone is struggling, trust your gut and ask, “are you OK?", because a conversation could change a life.
