HEAD OF SCHOOL WELCOME

Dear Seven Hills Community -

Welcome to the Seven Hills auction!

Just a few months ago, we kicked off this year’s auction season and announced this year’s theme. We look forward each year to our biggest community event, and the night has finally arrived. We’re glowing with excitement and turning up the lights. Come on over it’s Neon Nights!

As I reflect on the school’s 60th anniversary, I think about all the times that our big-hearted community has come together in service to the mission and students of Seven Hills, and tonight is no exception. From the inspiring creativity of our parents and guardians, who volunteer their time and talent to make events like the auction come to life; our faculty, who have deliberately chosen the career of educating the whole child; and of course, our students who are developing their curiosity, open minds, resilience, and kindness during their time at this school. Your enthusiastic support of Seven Hills lays the foundation for each and every one of our students’ futures to be BRIGHT!

Before we light up the night, let me take a moment to thank everyone who has helped make this evening possible. A special thank you to our auction committees, grade-level auction reps, basket coordinators, and teams of volunteers, who have done an extraordinary job to drum up excitement for this once-a-year event. And, of course, we are grateful to you our parents, faculty, staff, sponsors, donors, and friends who contribute in so many ways to the auction. It is your commitment and generosity that makes Seven Hills what it is and what it can be.

So tonight, as you enjoy the silent and live auctions, delicious food, and a lively evening with our community, know that every dollar raised at this event will directly impact your students and the distinctive academic and social-emotional programs at Seven Hills. As you place your bids, enter the raffle, and raise your paddle high, thank you for contributing to your child’s future and the future of the school we all love.

Let's Get Ready to Glow!

Gratefully,

BUYER CONTRACT

1. All sales are final. No exchanges or refunds are possible. All items are sold “as is.” Airfare coupons, vacation home use, or hosted parties donated or purchased by Seven Hills’ families may not be transferred without the prior permission of the donor.

2. All purchases the night of the auction must be paid-in-full before leaving the auction (before 10:30 pm). The cashier opens at 9:30pm. After payment is received, buyers can collect their purchases from the location they bid on the item. The Auction Committee is not responsible for items purchased and not picked up by the buyer the evening of the auction. Any arrangements and expenses for delivery are the sole responsibility of the purchaser, unless indicated in the catalog.

3. Each registered guest will receive a bid number. Use of this bid number constitutes a legal contract to buy. The closing bid number written on the silent auction bid sheet and circled by the Auction Committee constitutes the winning bid. Guests may bid in the live auction by raising their bid card with their printed bid number. The top bid recognized by the live auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item.

4. Please note all conditions, restrictions, and expiration dates on items and services. Restaurant certificates do not include liquor, tax, or gratuities unless specified. Auction Committee assumes no responsibility for travel arrangements. No refunds will be made for canceled tickets or accommodations. Please note that some airline tickets have blackout dates.

5. It is the intent of the Auction Committee to describe accurately all catalog items with the information provided by the donor. Auction Committee neither warrants nor represents, and in no way shall be responsible for the correctness of description, authenticity, authorship, provenance, or conditions of the property. No statements contained in the catalog or made orally at the sale of elsewhere shall be deemed to be such a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability.

6. All purchases must be used within one year of auction date, unless otherwise specified. Purchasers of vacation homes and condominium packages should contact the donor within one month of the auction to arrange time of use. Buyers are responsible for complying with the expiration date of their purchases.

7. The Auction Committee reserves the right to add or withdraw from, without notice, items listed in the auction catalog. If the auctioneer determines that any winning bid is not commensurate with the value of the article offered, he may reject the bid and withdraw the article from sale. Please note: In deference to some of our donors, there is a minimum opening bid on some items. Please refer to the individual listings to see if a minimum opening bid is applicable.

8. GROUP PURCHASES: Group bidding on items shall be represented by one bid number. This bid number becomes the official number of record. If this bid number secures the winning bid, a spotter will immediately approach to collect the winning bid numbers of the entire group. This list will then be turned into the treasurer. Other members of the group can pay their portion individually for tax purposes, at checkout if their bid number was recorded on the group list. The official bid number, however; is ultimately responsible for payment in full that night and will be expected to pay for any remaining balance on the item.

9. By his/her purchase, the highest bidder/buyer waives any and all claims for liability against The Seven Hills School, its Board, officers, employees, representatives, and the donor of goods and services. Neither The Seven Hills School, nor any Seven Hills family, which solicited the donation, shall be responsible for any personal injuries, property damage, or any loss whatsoever that may result from the utilization of goods or services donated or sold.

614 Loose Parts Station for Your ECE Student

Bring home a part of the ECE curriculum for your little one with this Loose Parts station put together by Ms. Cochran. Loose Parts is a wonderful term coined by architect Simon Nicholson who carefully considered landscapes and environments that form connections. Nicholson believed that we are all creative and that loose parts in an environment will empower our creativity. Early childhood educators adapted the theory of loose parts. Imagination, creativity, curiosity, desire, and need are the motivation of loose parts. Loose parts are materials that can be moved, carried, combined, redesigned, lined up, and taken apart and put back together in multiple ways. Let your child’s imagination soar and see their creativity come alive at home.

*Please supervise children when playing with loose parts as some items are very small and can pose a choking hazard.
