Barcelona Barcelona’s location on the Mediterranean coast assures a warm, welcoming climate with pleasant temperatures all year round. The city boasts more than 5 kilometres of beaches, an Olympic marina, open-air restaurants, famous stores for shopping, and many street cafes.
16 - 18 October 2014
• A 3-day meeting • 5,000 professionals from more • Attendees than 40 countries • 80 international speakers • 200 lectures translation • Simultaneous in all rooms • 100 research abstracts hands-on wet labs • 11 and workshops • Over 100 exhibitors
2
Absorb Barcelona’s wonderful history and bohemian atmosphere. Walk through the Gothic Quarter, one of the world’s best-preserved medieval areas, and the Ribera and Raval districts. The bustling streets and neighbourhoods can be easily explored by bus, by bicycle or on foot. Of course, if Barcelona is famous for any one thing, it is its buildings. Take the time to admire the city’s architectural masterpieces such as the Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera, created by Antoni Gaudí and other architects, and soak up Modernisme, the city’s home-grown Art Nouveau movement and all that Barcelona has to offer.

The SEVC workshops and laboratories adhere strictly to the ethical oversight directions and approval under Spanish regulations in their use of live animals. The number of animals used is always minimal. Every effort is made to avoid situations and procedures that would cause anxiety and pain in the animals, and appropriate sedation and analgesia are used whenever necessary. No animal will be euthanized to meet the needs of any SEVC workshop.
A shuttle bus service operates between Fira de Barcelona and UAB for certain workshops:
• Dentistry in the small animal practice • Stifle repair: extracapsular, meniscal and patellar luxation lab Buses are for vets registered for the laboratory taking place in the UAB building only. The trip from the SEVC venue to UAB takes 30 minutes.

Dermatological problems are a frequent reason for consultation and can evolve into extremely frustrating and challenging cases. With the help of experts and by means of computers with patient data, sample images, history, results etc. participants will have the opportunity to discuss clinical cases with complicated diagnostic and therapeutic background. Cases will be evaluated initially in small groups, using personal experience and knowledge, followed by an all class discussion. The experts’ help will be essential in overcoming the most challenging cases. By the end of the lab participants will be able to use valuable diagnostic protocols in the daily practice, and follow a coherent process of decision-making when treating complex veterinary dermatology cases.
Through practical examples with live animals become familiar with the main procedures and equipment used to develop a comprehensive behaviour enrichment protocol, as well as how to deal with conflict situations regarding separation related disorders.

AVEPA 50th Anniversary Celebration Auditorium (room 7) Friday 17 October, 18.30 - 20.00 This year AVEPA, the Spanish Small Animal Association, celebrates its 50th anniversary. Since 1964 the many activities, courses and conferences which have been held are now converging at the various events occurring throughout Spain to celebrate the association’s 50th anniversary. This central act of remembrance, and the ones held in the other AVEPA centres, are intended to be a tribute to our more than 4,200 members and the pioneers of our profession.
