YEAR 12 SETON CATHOLIC COLLEGE STUDENTS
Established in 1990, with contributions from former pupils, parents and friends, to commemorate and thank the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition and their staff for the contribution they have made to promote the quality of education in the Fremantle district and throughout Western Australia from 1855 to 1989.
St Emilie de Vialar FOUNDRESS OF THE SISTERS OF ST JOSEPH OF THE APPARITION
St Emilie founded her Congregation in Gaillac, France on Christmas Day 1832. It was a missionary congregation and the Sisters were to provide free education, relief to the poor, care for the sick and those in need.
With the directions, “Go with what you have and will receive, do all the good you can,” St Emilie sent four sisters to Fremantle on the barque the Lady Amherst in 1855.
The four Sisters were:
• Mother Julie Cabagniol (25)
• Sister Lucie Fieuzet (44)
• Sister Zoe de Chamouin (19)
• Sister Elilie Petit (19)
In July 1855 these Sisters opened their first school in Fremantle followed by another in Albany in 1878. Between 1855 and 1989 the Sisters of St Joseph of the Appa-

St Emilie de Vialar SCHOLARSHIP CONDITIONS AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The de Vialar Scholarship is established to assist senior students complete Year 12 at Seton Catholic College.
Conditions
At the absolute discretion of the Selection Committee a scholarship of up to $2000 may be offered in one calendar year.
• Year 11 students who will be studying Year 12 are eligible to apply.
• A scholarship need not necessarily be awarded every year.
• In some cases more than one scholarship may be awarded in a particular year, in which case the scholarship value of $2,000 will be shared amongst the recipients.
Eligibility
To be eligible to receive a Scholarship the student must
• have completed Year 11 in a successful mannner.
• have the potential to successfully complete Year 12 at Seton Catholic College.
Selection Criterion
In awarding a scholarship, the Selection Committee shall have regard to the spirit of Emilie de Vialar when she said “go and with what you have and will receive, do all the good you can”.
Application Procedure
Students are to complete an online application form. This link will be emailed to all Year 11 families.
The Selection Committee will consist of three members:
• The Principal of Seton Catholic College or their representative
• A representative of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition.
• A member of the de Vialar Scholarship Committee.

All Year 11 students and their families will receive email communication with a link to the online application form prior to the scholarship opening date.
Applications will need to be completed online and it is crucial to adhere to the specified due date. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Once applications have been submitted families will receive an email confirming their the application has been received by Seton Catholic College.
