We welcome your child to Seton, where we hope they will settle quickly and become a part of the fabric of the College.

Our Orientation Day will be on 1 February 2023. New students in Years 8 – 12 will complete a half day which begins with a briefing and welcome in the St Brendan’s Centre at 8.25am. Please drop your child to the Brother Francis Gym, where all new students will gather for the 8.25am session. A map of the school can be found HERE. Included below is some essential information regarding Seton Catholic College to assist in your child’s transition to Seton.

Communication College information can be found on the Seton Website, through email (please check your junk mail if you feel you are not receiving correspondence from the College), Newsletters and SEQTA Engage.

We ask that parents respond quickly when asked to complete electronic information to avoid creating extra work for our administration staff.

Technology See our College Website/Parents/Device for information and recommendations about types of devices. This information can also be accessed HERE. The device set up day, Wednesday 25 January, is compulsory for both parent and child and attendance is essential.

Booklists The booklists for Year 8 – 12 students will be published by Monday 28 November and can be accessed HERE. Learning Materials We recommend that at the start of each term you check for correct learning materials: Pencil case, blue pen, red pen, highlighter, coloured pens/pencils, pencil, eraser, ruler, spare lined paper/exercise books, at least 6 display folders.

We also recommend naming all clothing and equipment.

Attendance The expectation of attendance at school is according to the School Education Act 1999 and CEWA Student Attendance Guidelines. Attendance less than 90% is deemed at risk. Once a student has more than four days absent in a term, email correspondence regarding this will commence with the aim to support better attendance.

All absences and lateness require parent contact. For daily absences - contact the College before 8.30am 9331 9650 or via the Absence tile on Parent Engage (SEQTA). On the first day of school you will be sent a link and instructions to allow you access to SEQTA. Further details and a user guide can be found HERE. If late to school – please provide a note for your child to take to the Ngalla Maya Centre when they are signing in or make phone contact. Ongoing issues should be communicated to Head of House.

Wednesday 25 January 10am, 2pm, 6pm Everyone is expected to attend one session with device and student.

First Day of School (Orientation Day)

Please arrange a pick-up point with your child – the main entrance to the College or the gate on Marchant Road are recommended collection points.

Uniform & Presentation We encourage and expect students to take pride in their presentation. We need support from parents for this in the form of having haircuts in preparation for commencement of year/term, ensuring uniforms are in good repair and dresses are at the correct length.

Please see the attached uniform information and the College website/Community/Uniform shop for College expectations (also available HERE) Extra-Curricular We encourage students to get involved in extra-curricular activities. Term One will offer SASJ sport, the College Swimming Carnival where a team is selected to represent us in the ACC Carnival, Chess Club and a variety of other lunchtime clubs, House activities and much more.

Homework help - English is on Tuesdays after school, Maths is on Wednesday after school, 3.30-4.30pm.

Buses The buses serving Seton are: Transperth Buses 511, 532, 777 and 732. Seton's Private Buses North and South – please visit our website for routes and information. You can also access this information HERE. Students will have a photo taken for their Smartrider card on Orientation Day and an order will be placed for your child’s card. These cards will take roughly a week to arrive. If your child is catching a Transperth Bus they will need to pay with coins or use their Smartrider from their previous school. If they are using Seton’s Private Bus they will be required to write their name on a list as they board the bus.

House System & Pastoral Care Your child will be allocated one of the six houses that have associated Patrons, colours, mottos and values. Each House has seven Pastoral Care Groups that meet each morning and work with their Head of House to support students pastorally and in all aspects of school life. The Pastoral Care Teacher is the first person to contact for any issues.

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Please note the following important Uniform Shop details for our new 2023 Year 8 - 12 students.

Purchase of Uniforms All our new students for 2023 are urged to come in before the end of term and be fitted for the summer uniform. An email was sent to parents earlier this term with a booking link.

We always try to ensure there is plenty of growing room in the garments. You can either pay and take the uniform, or layby. We suggest you leave garments in the packaging with tags attached, try them on in January and bring them in if an exchange is required.

If you feel your child requires a made to measure garment, please contact us as soon as possible at the Shop on 9331 9694. An appointment needs to be made with the supplier direct for measuring. If you have a child with special needs, please ring the Uniform Shop to make a specialised appointment time.

Opening Times – December 2022 The Uniform Shop will open from: Tuesday 6 December and Thursday 8 December: 9am – 1pm Wednesday 7 December and Friday 9 December: 1pm - 4pm Opening Times – January 2023 Monday 30 January 2023 - 9am to 12pm & 1pm to 3pm Tuesday 31 January 2023 - 9am to 12pm & 1pm to 3pm Wednesday 1 February 2023 - 9am to 12pm & 2pm to 5pm Shop Hours During Term Time From Thursday 2 February 2023, the Shop will open at the normal term times.
