Dear Alumni, Families, and Friends of Servite High School,
I just concluded my 22nd year on our beloved campus. Looking back at my years as a student, postulant, teacher, coach, and administrator, I clearly see how God prepared and led me to serve as Servite’s president. As I finish my first year in this role, I take a moment to embrace our school theme this year of “Inspired Thanksgiving.”
I am grateful to all those who have given their time, talent, and treasure to support Servite’s mission of forming faith-filled leaders. Our dedicated faculty and staff have tirelessly committed themselves to our students this year, especially to the Class of 2024. I am inspired by their dedication to help each student develop their God-given gifts so that they might become formed in His love and grace and prepared to go out into the world to serve as leaders who exemplify the virtues of Jesus and Mary.
I am so appreciative of our parents who sacrifice a great deal to send their sons to Servite. Their support of our mission is expressed first in their partnership with us in the formation of their son and then through the countless volunteer hours to put on amazing events like Friar Feast, Fashion Show, and the Excellence in Leadership Dinner.
The Excellence in Leadership Dinner inspired me and hundreds of others who witnessed the great work that Servite High School continues to do each year. From hearing the testimony of our Prior General, John Carlson, to being amazed by the talents of our choir, theater, and guitar students, attendees were in awe of the young men that Servite is forming. Equally as important, these young men got to meet, hear, and interact with excellent examples of leaders such as Tom McCoy ’74, Matthew Slater ’03, and Cory Fajardo ’08. I continue to pray and work towards this reciprocal inspiration of each group, students to alumni and alumni to students.
I am looking forward to what Servite will accomplish in the coming year and those that follow. We will always strive towards excellence and success and achieve both by being faithful to mission, rooted in our faith, and inspired by our traditions. Thank you for your continued support of Servite High School. As we all know, we are stronger together and achieve so much more when we work as one united community. May God bless you and our Servite High School.
In Christ, serving Mary,
Stephen Walswick ‘02

I am honored to be selected as the next principal of Servite High School,” said Windisch. “I am passionate about upholding the traditions of Servite High School and dynamically advancing the school for years to come. I look forward to actively cultivating supportive relationships with faculty, staff, parents, and students, connecting families from different groups and increasing community partnerships.
- Nancy Windisch
On April 1, 2024, Nancy Windisch made history as the first female principal in the 66-year history of Servite High School. The appointment of Mrs. Windisch was made by Servite President Stephen Walswick ‘02. Windisch is the successor to Walswick, who became President effective July 1, 2023. She served as interim principal from July 1, 2023 until March 31, 2024.
“During our search process, Servite High School was seeking a principal who would be a faith-focused administrator and exceptional academic leader, help guide Servite’s continued growth, and lead the school to the next level of excellence,” said President Walswick. “While we interviewed candidates from across the country, Mrs. Windisch’s proven experience, thoughtful leadership style, and passion for our mission made her the ideal candidate for the position.”
“Mrs. Windisch has already demonstrated her aptitude as a collaborative and servant leader. She naturally and authentically connects with students, colleagues, parents, and all other members of the Servite community,” he continued. “I look forward to working closely with her to continue the positive momentum of the school while keeping our community focused and rooted in our Catholic values and traditions of the Servite Order.”
Windisch has more than 25 years of experience in Catholic education, including serving as Assistant Principal of Academics at Servite prior to taking on the role of interim principal. From 2002 to 2018, she served as principal at St. Angela Merici Catholic School in Brea, CA, where she honed her administrative and leadership skills while creating a positive school culture and cultivating community partnerships. She holds a bachelor’s degree and multiple subject credentials from the University of Southern California, where she was an All-American swimmer. She also earned a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from National University.
Nancy exemplifies great leadership in Catholic education, grounded in faith and academic excellence. Emulating the model of Mary, she embodies compassion, humility, and dedication to the spiritual and personal growth of our Servite students. As a steward of the faculty, she ensures that teachers feel valued and supported, cultivating a collaborative and inspiring community. I have had the pleasure of working with Nancy since she started here at Servite, and I am so excited to journey with her in her new role.
- Brian Hunt, Assistant Principal of Academics
Aeneas Mires embodies the characteristics of a true Friar: academic excellence, a commitment to God, and a strong sense of service and brotherhood. He earned a weighted 4.85 GPA, took 13 AP courses, and was named an AP Scholar with Distinction and a National Hispanic Recognition Scholar. A member of the Servite Soccer team for four years, Aeneas was chosen by the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) as Servite’s 2024 Student-Athlete of the Year. Aeneas was active in Priory Leadership and served as Bonajuncta Prior as a senior. In the community, Aeneas regularly assisted at a community medicine project in Anaheim, where he conducted blood pressure and blood sugar screenings of uninsured Spanishspeaking patients. This fall, Aeneas will attend UCLA as a biology major and intends to apply to medical school in the future.
Throughout his time at Servite, Cooper Truong exemplified leadership and dedication in various capacities. He enthusiastically represented Servite as an active member of the Admissions Ambassador program, served as co-president of the National Honor Society, and was a senior officer in the California Scholarship Federation. Outside the classroom, Cooper showcased his athletic skills as a four-year Servite Volleyball athlete. Sharing his love for the game, he has worked with elementary and middle school students through coaching at Servite youth volleyball camps and officiating junior high tournaments. In recognition of his achievements, Cooper was awarded the prestigious USC Associates Scholarship and will be attending the University of Southern California in the fall. He plans to major in International Relations with an emphasis in Global Business, aligning his academic pursuits with his career aspirations in finance.

... success is measured by the depth and breadth to which each Friar has known, imitated, and loved Christ...
- Brendan Ronan
Formation at Servite is not about a “what” but a “who,” always leading students to an encounter with Christ. From the Servite High School Mission Statement to the Formation Themes, from the Charism of the Order Friar Servants of Mary to the crucifix hanging in every classroom, from Kairos retreats to daily prayer on the intercom, Servite creates an environment that is rooted in an authentic love of Christ. By the student’s senior year, he will have had countless opportunities to both know about Christ and know Christ, along with just as many opportunities to witness to Christ on and off campus. He will be challenged to embrace Christ in his theology class by deepening his understanding of Catholic philosophy, scripture, and theology, ready to defend his faith. Athletics and other extracurricular activities will remind him that his body is to be used to give God glory and that he is a physical being with an eternal destination.
BY: BRENDAN RONAN, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF CATHOLIC IDENTITY
Meaningful relationships with faculty and staff across the student experience will allow him to share his sorrows and joys, demonstrating that each member of the Body of Christ never suffers or celebrates alone. All of this is to say that Servite formation is about Christ, and success is not measured by GPA, scholarship dollars, or college acceptances. Rather, success is measured by the depth and breadth to which each Friar has known, imitated, and loved Christ, bringing life and fulfillment to the Servite adage, Be Christ, See Christ.
Servite Friars are called, trained, and sent out into the world to be faith-filled leaders. Not just faith-filled men, faith-filled leaders. And as Servite Friars, we are called to exercise a particularly unconventional form of leadership: servant leadership. To quote a passionate Christlike man whom I greatly admire, Servite Class of 2003 alumnus Matthew Slater, “Leadership can really be defined in one word, and that’s servanthood.”
John Carlson ‘24 was selected by his peers to serve as the Prior General during the 20232024 school year. Prior General is the school’s highest student leadership position.
Servite has instilled respect, integrity, faith, honor, and a passion for servant leadership within us all.
What makes this calling so unique is that it completely defies all traditional expectations for how a leader should act. According to common definitions, a leader should have clear authority over the people he leads. He should be powerful and influential, and he should put himself above others to make sure people know that he’s the one in charge.
But here at Servite, we don’t abide by common definitions, now, do we?
Picture this: a man spends each and every day of his life feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, comforting the sorrowful, giving to the poor, and praying for the needy. He promotes the name of God unceasingly not just by his words, but by his every action. He offers himself fully and freely as a gift to others, even going so far as to lay down his life in the name of God. He makes sacrifice after sacrifice out of pure love for those around him, most of whom he’s never even seen face-toface.
You might think I just described
Jesus Christ, and you’d be correct. But I wasn’t just talking about him. I just described you. Who you are called to be. A true faith-filled servant leader, constantly seeking ways not to put yourself above others, but to put others above yourself. Christ exemplified the ultimate form of servant leadership. He fully and completely gave his time, his talents, his power, his grace, his life—he endured death on a cross—out of pure selflessness and love for the people he knew. We are called to live our lives in constant service to others not for personal glory, but because we should aim to be Christ in everything we do, say, and are.
You might recall that throughout this past school year, I’ve encouraged you all to rise beyond greatness and to become legendary.
To become legendary doesn’t mean to accomplish some amazing feat or to gain a prestigious position of power. To become legendary doesn’t mean to stand victorious, confident that your name will live on throughout history. To become legendary means to live like Christ, to embrace the pure, unfathomable love, humility, selflessness, and servanthood that defined his ministry and legacy here on Earth.
Cast aside all selfish desires and live fully for others. Constantly seek ways to give yourselves freely for the good and the salvation of those around you. Strive for glory and success, not to improve your own image, but to glorify and proclaim the goodness of the Creator.
If our goal is to become like Christ—to become legendary— then we must surrender to God’s will by unceasingly living our lives as faith-filled servant leaders. Then, and only then, can we become legendary.
I leave you all with this: Always remember that God doesn’t judge us by our possessions or our merits. He judges us by our love. So when you accomplish an amazing feat, or gain a prestigious position of power, or stand victorious, confident that your name will live on throughout history, remember: “faith-filled” and “servant” come before “leader.”
Servite has instilled respect, integrity, faith, honor, and a passion for servant leadership within us all. And if we constantly seek to put others above ourselves, if we serve others out of pure love and selflessness, if we help others grow closer to God in times of suffering, if we strive unceasingly to live out our calling as faith-filled servant leaders, no matter what we have to sacrifice, if we become known for our unbounded, unrestrained, unbiased, unending love and mercy and compassion and holiness and humility, if we cast aside personal desires and comforts in favor of loving and serving others in the name of God, if we exemplify the Seven Holy Founders and the Blessed Mother and Jesus Christ in everything we do, say, and are…
Then no matter where or how old we are, we can hold our heads high and be proud to call ourselves true Servite Friars.
Trinitas Arts Conservatory is Rosary Academy and Servite High School’s award-winning afterschool theatre program.
BY: PARKER LEE ’24
Jerry Herman, Thornton Wilder, and Michael Stewart’s original script for Hello, Dolly! is nothing short of a masterpiece of musical theater, pulling the audience into a zany, foolish wonderland packed to the brim with pipe dreams. Dolly Gallagher-Levi’s world is uncomplicated: the songs of love at first sight and soaring dance numbers bundle the story up in a fluffy blanket, delivered freshly to an audience that experiences only the pastel reality offered to them.
Of course, creating a show that feels so simple is a deeply complicated processevery step and scene must flow into the next. The wheel must never cease to turn, lest that audience find the seams of the theatrical quilt hiding in plain sight. The unreality of the show is preserved only by the passionate realities lived throughout production. Hello, Dolly! was, by necessity, a demanding show to work on. Every dance was cleaned to perfection, every song was sung ad nauseam, and every technical transition was run 30 times before it was ready for the stage. Despite the seemingly insurmountable nature of our challenges, several students emerged as leaders, encouraging and guiding their peers through each leap and light cue. I believe that’s the power of a great theater program: to elevate students from goodness to greatness. To list a few names, and not delve too deeply into the specifics: our dance captains, Jaden Linares and Ashley Hawley; our props crew head, Joaquin Nunez; our costume crew heads, Brooke Skipton and Lauren Carlin; and both of our Cornelius Hackls, Philip Riebli and Donnie Sarabia.
“Dazzling Debut: The Cast of Hello, Dolly! lights up Opening Night!”
Alongside many student leaders, an exceptional group of adult volunteers appeared to lighten the load: Nicholas Johnson ’23, associate audio designer; Ben Salerno ’19, assistant tech director; Alec Hawley ’21, set construction and ticketing volunteer; and Dr. Rauterkus, set construction volunteer. Without their contributions, the Hello, Dolly! you saw on stage would have never been possible.
Trinitas Arts Conservatory’s rendition of The Diary of Anne Frank took audiences on a poignant journey through history. A classic story brought to life by an ensemble cast, the show used modern costumes and a stage with invisible walls separating the rooms of the Annex. The production served as a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and the importance of standing up against hatred.
Blithe Spirit, a classic comedy, delighted audiences with its wit and charm. The talented cast brought Noel Coward’s timeless characters to life, delivering an enchanting performance that left viewers in stitches. The production was directed by Frankie Marrone ‘03.

The students in Rosary and Servite’s award-winning after-school theatre program, Trinitas Arts Conservatory, are some of the kindest, open-hearted and supportive young adults I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. The 2023-2024 athletic year brought many milestones and memorable moments highlighted by hockey and soccer winning championship titles on the same night.
If you’re a Friar fan, your calendar was booked on March 2nd. In addition to the championship games, Servite also honored Hall of Famer and 16-year NFL veteran Matthew Slater ‘03 at the annual Excellence in Leadership Dinner held the same evening at the JW Marriott. Needless to say, it was a great day to be a Friar!
Hockey got the action started, advancing to the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League (ADHSHL) Commissioner’s Cup finals after posting a regular season record of 19-1 overall and defeating Corona Norco 3-2 in shootouts to win the Ridge Conference title. The Friars went on to defeat Los Alamitos 3-1 at Great Park Ice to raise the Cup for the third time since 2020. Senior Giovanni Capraro scored two goals in the contest including the game winner then was later recognized as the ADHSHL Offensive Player of the Year and Servite’s Athlete of the Year, becoming the first hockey player in school history to earn the recognition.
Kicking off just an hour later, soccer took on Trinity League rival Orange Lutheran
at Orange Coast College in a rematch of the CIF-SS D1 championship game that was played just one week earlier, where the Friars defeated the Lancers 3-1 in front of a packed crowd at Fred Kelly Stadium. History repeated itself as soccer once again came away victorious, this time topping Orange Lutheran 1-0 to win just the second CIF State Regional Championship in program history. The game’s lone goal was scored by junior Mattias Kremer in the 12th minute while senior goalkeeper Talin Morgan earned the shutout. The team went on to finish No. 6 in the nation and No. 1 in California, led in part by senior captain Justin Cuevas who was recognized as CIF Player of the Year and the recipient of Servite’s Sherer Courage Award after missing his entire junior campaign due to injury.
Football also earned the opportunity to play for a CIF-SS Championship in the fall as first-year Head Coach Chris Reinert ‘04 led the team to a finals berth after earning key wins over Long Beach Poly and Gardena Serra during their playoff run.
For the third time since 2020, Hockey won the ADHSHL Commissioners’ Cup title finishing the season 21-1 overall.
The title chase didn’t end there as golf returned to the top of the Trinity League standings, finishing league play 9-1 to clinch their first title since 2019. Sophomore Hanks Wang won the Individual Trinity League Tournament becoming the 4th straight Servite golfer to accomplish the feat. In doing so, he set a new league record shooting 130 over the two-day tournament at Los Serranos Country Club, coming in at an impressive 14 under.
Wrestlers Josh Valdez ‘24 (144), Mitchell Semaan ‘25 (190) and Adam Galindo ‘25 (215) brought home some hardware of their own winning individual Trinity
League medals in their respective weight classes while track athletes Quaid Carr ‘25 and Camren Hughes ‘26 also took their rightful place at the top of the podium after winning the 100 and 200 respectively at Trinity League Finals. In addition, Carr and Hughes were members of the 4x100 relay team that took 1st place at both league finals and the OC Championships, breaking the school record from 2017 not once, but twice this season.
As the year came to a close, 17 members of the Class of 2024 signed to continue their athletic careers at four-year universities including 3x All-CIF selection
Following the resignation of Coach Eddie Soto, Coach Alex Ramirez was announced as the new Servite Soccer Head Coach in May. Coach Ramirez comes to the Friars from Savanna High School where he served as the head soccer coach for 17 years, most recently winning the Orange League Championship in 2024 while being named Orange League Coach of the Year. In addition, he coaches with the Irvine Pateadores Soccer Club. Athletic Director Matt Marrujo ‘07 shared, “We are
very excited to announce Alex Ramirez as our Head Soccer coach. Coach Ramirez has demonstrated a commitment to education-based athletics that makes him the ideal leader of our soccer program. He is a proven head coach, who built both his soccer program and athletic department with the same values and mission we hold so special at Servite. Under his leadership, I am confident that our championship program will continue to excel both on and off the field.”
and All-American Eamon Rigdon who is headed to USC to play volleyball and 4x All-Trinity League tennis player and 2x doubles champion Chris Marci who has signed with Azusa Pacific University. Football led all programs with six signees followed by baseball and soccer with four each.
With so many great memories and accomplishments now in the rear view, we won’t have to wait long to see what the 2024-2025 athletic year has in store. Football kicks off once again August 23rd at OCC to get the fall season going!

We are pleased to announce our newly updated track will be named The Gibbs Family Track in honor of Richard and Elsa Gibbs for their years of service to Servite High School. Elsa (Quintana) Gibbs was a member of our faculty for 41 years, teaching Spanish and serving as department chair among other leadership roles. Richard was an award-winning track and cross country coach, leading Servite to multiple team and individual championships over three decades. They are also the parents of an alumnus, Alex Gibbs ‘07. Both Richard and Elsa helped form thousands of young men into faith-filled leaders through their respective roles and we feel it is only fitting that the track carry their name.
Richard and Elsa Gibbs dedicated their lives and careers to Servite and our mission of forming faith-filled leaders. The naming of the track after them is a sign of our gratitude and will ensure future generations will never forget their legacy.
- Matt Marrujo ‘08, Athletic Director

In 2023, Servite High School replaced our track due to irreparable damage caused by heavy rains and years of use. The new, improved track surface is made of high-performance polyurethane rubber and provides our student-athletes what they need to train and compete at the highest level.
The impact of this project is far-reaching in our community. Servite and Rosary Academy’s track and field and cross country teams, physical education classes, and other groups use the facility for practice and/or competitions. The track also serves as a community-wide recreation and wellness resource for students, faculty, and staff; club sports, and intramural teams.
The Servite Endowment Fund manages gifts of all types and sizes, with a focus on major gift endowments. When your charitable gift creates an individual endowed fund to benefit Servite High School, the school agrees to maintain those funds in perpetuity. The goal is to preserve the principal while providing distributions each year.
Each individual endowment account is managed in the school’s longterm investment pool. We invest endowed funds using asset allocation to maximize growth while safeguarding capital during tough economic times. Investment strategies, research, and due diligence are carried out by the Investment Committee and Board of Directors. In addition, we maintain relationships with third-party investment consultants and other key advisors who serve as valuable resources in investment decision-making.
If you are interested in making a LEADERSHIP GIFT, naming rights are available for parts of the project.

This exciting honor for the 2023 Fall Season is awarded for the tireless efforts and dedication of the Asylum Leadership and the entire student body of Servite High School.
Mrs. Tomasita (Tommie) Valdez, former longtime Servite employee, reconnected with her Servite family at the 2024 Commencement.
Mrs. Valdez, who served as an administrative assistant to former Principal Ray Dunne, was in attendance to celebrate the graduation of her grandson, Joshua Valdez ‘24.
Please join us in welcoming Ron Mallory ‘86 as the new president of the Servite Alumni Association, succeeding Jonathan Ekno ‘00. Ron and his wife Marissa are proud parents of Michael ‘26 and Cera, a student and competitive swimmer at Utah Tech. An active volunteer on campus, Ron is Vice President of JS Held, providing building consulting services for the construction, surety, legal, and insurance industries. In his spare time, Ron can be found cultivating his skills as a BBQ pitmaster.
We are excited to announce that Mr. Brian Hunt has been named Servite’s new Assistant Principal, reporting to Principal Nancy Windisch. A graduate of an all-boys high school himself, Mr. Hunt has dedicated his career to Catholic education. He has over 16 years of experience in administration and teaching at all-boys schools, including Servite. He was named Servite’s Dean of Academics in May 2022 after serving as Servite’s Coordinator of Educational Technology and Curriculum for the previous three years. Mr. Hunt has extensive experience as a classroom teacher and has also served as department chair and summer school principal during his time at Servite.
The Diocese of Orange celebrated the feast day of St. Peregrine with a special Mass and blessing with relics of the saint on Saturday, May 4, 2024. St. Peregrine is widely known as the patron saint of those who suffer with cancer, but he is also the patron saint of youth at risk. After spending his early years in what might today be described as a street gang, St. Peregrine was converted by a Servite Friar and joined the order. He spent the rest of his life caring for the sick and the poor. The Mass was again organized by Fr. Michael Pontarelli, OSM ‘73, pastor of St. Juliana Falconieri Parish in Fullerton.
MR. GOODWIN!
At the end of the school year, longtime theology teacher Richard Goodwin retired from his faculty position at Servite. Known by students in recent years for his “Amen Corner” on Servite TV as well as his classroom instruction, Mr. Goodwin was devoted to forming young men into faith-filled leaders. A 2018 nominee for St. Joseph Radio’s Catholic Man of the Year, Mr. Goodwin, has also served Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in La Habra as Director of Religious Education and is a member of the Evangelization and Stewardship Team. Thank you for your service, Mr, Goodwin, and best wishes in your retirement!
Since 2007, Sister Johnellen Turner, OP has shared her deep faith and infectious joy through her leadership at St. Catherine’s Academy (SCA). A recipient of Servite’s Excellence in Leadership Award in March 2020, Sr. Johnellen was not only responsible for the operations and instructional leadership of SCA, she also served multiple terms on Servite’s Board of Directors.
A Los Angeles native, Sr. Johnellen has devoted more than 54 years to Catholic education at schools in L.A. and Orange
counties, including the last 17 years at SCA. During this time, she helped form the lives of thousands of students and partnered with countless parents to ensure the best possible experience for every student in her care. As Sr. Johnellen concludes her tenure at SCA and retires from the Servite board, we would like to express our gratitude for her service, partnership, and commitment to Catholic education.
The Servite community gathered at St. Philip Benizi Church in Fullerton on May 5, 2024 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the ordination of Fr. Richard Boyle, OSM. A familiar face at Servite High School, Fr. Richard, or Fr. Rick, served in Campus Ministry at Servite at various times and, most recently, has supported Kairos retreats, Mother’s Day of Reflection, and other liturgical celebrations since returning to Orange County in 2022. Fr. Boyle also served in various roles including rector at The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother (The Grotto) in Portland, as Catholic Chaplain at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, and Solano State Prison in Vacaville, CA as well as several parishes. May God bless Fr. Richard with many more years of ministry!
Mr. Cory Fajardo ’08, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to our very own Mr. Cory Fajardo ’08 on being recognized by the Diocese of Orange as the recipient of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Teacher of the Year!
After fellow faculty and staff members voted on Mr. Fajardo as our teacher of the year, Servite High School submitted his application to the Diocese of Orange for review. Mr. Fajardo was selected as one of sixteen finalists, and following an interview with Erin C.O. Barisano, Ed. D., Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese, Mr. Cory Fajardo, was selected as Secondary School Teacher of the Year.
We congratulate Mr. Cory Fajardo ’08 for this recognition and thank him for his continued support in forming our Friars.
Ryan Bass ’21, elected as the Vice President of the Gonzaga Student Body Association

At Chapman, he was a tutor and held leadership roles, including Treasurer of the Vietnamese American Pharmacy Student Association and Historian for the Hispanic Association of Pharmacists. Father Ian Gaston ’13 attended Emerson College in Boston for two years before entering Mount Angel Seminary. He was actively involved in the youth ministry program at his home parish, St. Norbert’s, which played a significant role in his discernment process. Father Gaston was ordained by Most Reverend Kevin Vann, Diocese of Orange on June 10, 2023, at Christ Cathedral. His first assignment was at St. Irenaeus Parish in Cypress. On July 1, 2024, he began his next assignment as Parochial Vicar at Christ Cathedral.
Ryland refers to the foundation as his “life’s work.” His mission is to serve women living with metastatic breast cancer so that they can find their silver linings. The Angela Andrade Foundation awards grants to families across the United States every quarter.
“With the Servite mission to serve others, it has helped me focus on how I serve communities. I think the best way to serve communities is with something very near and dear to your heart, and that is what I found in the foundation.”
Eric Mear ‘08 is a graduate of the USC Marshall School of Business. He is the founder of BYLT, a Premium Basics brand that has disrupted the apparel industry. Servite High School recognizes parents as the primary educators of their children and we are blessed to have a community of families that embraces this partnership. Each year at the Baccalaureate Mass, Servite honors parents of the graduating class whose impact on our campus has been extraordinary and will be felt long after their sons receive their diplomas. Whether they worked in leadership positions or served behind the scenes, they leave a legacy of service and commitment on our campus.
On Thursday, May 30, 2024, the following parents, whose last or only sons were members of the Class of 2024, received Awards of Merit for their volunteer service and support of our mission:
Bryan and Jennifer Carlson, parents of John ‘24 Mike and Gwen Hennessey, parents of Jack ‘20 and Neil ‘24
Tim ‘86 and Kelly Rosenkranz, parents of Cade ‘19, Riley ‘22, and Quinn ‘24
Kevin ‘88 and Deanne Traut, parents of Ethan ‘24
“Parent engagement and participation are integral to the success of our students and school,” said Steffanie Early, Servite Vice President of Advancement. “We are incredibly blessed by parent volunteers who put in endless hours of loving support in so many capacities on our campus.”
When asked why my wife and I contribute to Servite, the answer is that we do so for several reasons. These include (1) respect for the school, its Catholic faith and long tradition of excellence. We do so (2) with appreciation for the dedication of Servite’s current and past Board members, administrators, teachers, staff, and coaches. We do so (3) to help Servite’s current students and their parents who struggle with the tuition burden so these young men may learn and flourish while also making lifelong friendships. Last, we do so (4) in memory of my parents, John and Eleanor Fox, not only for their lifelong love, guidance, and support but also with gratitude for the work ethic and value system they instilled in me and my six siblings, including my brothers (Gregory ‘69 and David ‘70). They did so because they understood the value of a quality education and that investing in our four years at Servite would help prepare and propel us forward through our college, postgraduate school years and our professional careers, enriching us along the way by the lifelong friendships we made at Servite. They were so right.
