“Écroulement exceptionnellement grave du Pont St-Charles à Prague, Le 4 septembre 1890, pendant une inondation, et à cause de l'accumulation de troncs d'arbres, s'écroulèrent la 5eme et la 6eme pile du pont, et les voutes. La voute du 5eme s'écroula le 13 octobre, ainsi que les statues de Saint François Serafin et de Saint Ignace de Loyola, qui se trouvaient au dessus. Au total l'écroulement concerna 83,58 mètres, c'est-àdire 1/6e de la longueur totale" (Cf. Vaclav Ribarik, revue Kamen).

The e-bulletin presents a selection of books, albums, photographs and ancient documents as they have been handed down to the actual owners by their creators and by amateurs from past generations.

The physical descriptions, attributions, origins, and printing dates of the books and photographs have been carefully ascertained by collations and through close analysis of comparable works.

The books and photographs consigned from all around the world are presented in chronological order. It is the privilege of ancient and authentic things to be presented in this fashion, mirroring the flow of ideas and creations. Payment in euros, Paypal is accepted.

“Ich glaube, man sollte überhaupt nur solche Bücher lesen, die einen beißen und stechen. Wenn das Buch, das wir lesen, uns nicht mit einem Faustschlag auf den Schädel weckt, wozu lesen wir dann das Buch? Damit es uns glücklich macht, wie Du schreibst? Mein Gott, glücklich wären wir eben auch, wenn wir keine Bücher hätten, und solche Bücher, die uns glücklich machen, könnten wir zur Not selber schreiben. Wir brauchen aber die Bücher, die auf uns wirken wie ein Unglück, das uns sehr schmerzt, wie der Tod eines, den wir lieber hatten als uns, wie wenn wir in Wälder verstoßen würden, von allen Menschen weg, wie ein Selbstmord, ein Buch muß die Axt sein für das gefrorene Meer in uns. Das glaube ich.”

Good God, we also would be happy if we had no books and such books that make us happy we could, if need be, write ourselves. “Il me semble d’ailleurs qu’on ne devrait lire que les livres qui vous mordent et vous piquent. Si le livre que nous lisons ne nous réveille pas d’un coup de poing sur le crâne, à quoi bon le lire ? Pour qu’il nous rende heureux, comme tu l’écris ? Mon Dieu, nous serions tout aussi heureux si nous n’avions pas de livres, et des livres qui nous rendent heureux, nous pourrions à la rigueur en écrire nous-mêmes. En revanche, nous avons besoin de livres qui agissent sur nous comme un malheur dont nous souffririons beaucoup, comme la mort de quelqu’un que nous aimerions plus que nous-mêmes, comme si nous étions proscrits, condamnés à vivre dans des forêts loin de tous les hommes, comme un suicide — un livre doit être la hache pour la mer gelée en nous. Voilà ce que je crois.”

“Verlassen sind wir doch wie verirrte Kinder im Walde. Wenn Du vor mir stehst und mich ansiehst, was weißt Du von den Schmerzen, die in mir sind und was weiß ich von den Deinen.
