’escursionismo è una delle attività sportive più diffuse in Valmalenco. Grazie alla varietà di ambienti e alle maestose cime camminare in Valmalenco significa scoprire il fascino vero della montagna. Troverete piacevoli passeggiate o escursioni per famiglie, itinerari più impegnativi per appassionati oppure panoramiche traversate. Tutto questo è possibile grazie alla fitta rete di rifugi presente in valle. Luoghi di accoglienza ma anche di tradizioni e sapori genuini, i rifugi della Valmalenco sono posti in ambienti incontaminati. A cornice delle nostre escursioni, il gruppo Disgrazia-Bernina-Scalino racchiude tutta la valle e il suo splendore. I rifugi qui presentati sono suddivisi in base al gruppo montuoso. In quello del Disgrazia troverete i rifugi da cui si parte per l'ascensione alla vetta oppure quelli da cui si gode di ottima vista sulla stessa. Nel gruppo del Bernina troverete tutti i rifugi del gruppo, dalla base fino al rifugio Marco e Rosa, posto proprio sulla spalla del Pizzo Bernina.

Infine, l’area dello Scalino presenta il cuore della Valmalenco e i suoi rifugi comprendono anche quelli dell’area del Palù e della zona di Campo Moro.

iking is one of the most common activities in Valmalenco.

Thanks to the variety of environments and its majestic tops to walk in Valmalenco means to discover the true charm of the mountain. Pleasant walks or excursions for families, more demanding itineraries for passionated or scenic trips.

This is possible thanks to the net of mountain refuges in the valley. Places of accommodation but also of traditions and genuine tastes, the shelters of Valmalenco are set in uncontaminated environments. As a frame to our excursions, the Disgrazia-Bernina-Scalino group surrounds the whole valley and its magnificence.

The shelters are separated according to the top of reference.

In the Disgrazia group one will find the shelters from where it is possible to start the ascent or can enjoy a good sight on the peak. In the Bernina group are introduced all the shelters, from the bottom up to the shelter Marco e Rosa, set just under the Pizzo Bernina. Finally, the area of Pizzo Scalino introduces the heart of Valmalenco and the shelters of both Palù and Campo Moro areas.

La Valmalenco è la più estesa delle valli laterali della Valtellina: quote variabili fra i 500 e i 4000 metri, una corona di cime che si snoda costantemente al di sopra dei 3000 m, culminando ai 4050 m del Pizzo Bernina, orizzonti alpini che abbracciano tutte le fasce vegetative, innumerevoli angoli suggestivi con laghetti, torrenti, cascate.

Si aggiungano un’adeguata rete stradale, servizi pubblici efficienti, strutture ricettive attrezzate ed accoglienti in valle e in quota una trama di sentieri ben segnalata.

Il Gruppo del Bernina Il gruppo del Bernina si eleva, come un enorme scoglio, dai ghiacciai di Fellaria e di Scerscen superiore. A sinistra si scorge il Monte Disgrazia e a destra il Pizzo Scalino.

The Bernina range rises, as an enormous cliff, out of the Fellaria and upper Scerscen glaciers. On the left there is the Disgrazia mountain and on the right Pizzo Scalino.

Il monte Disgrazia ripreso dal Passo Ventina: a sinistra si abbassa la lunga cresta orientale, al centro la cresta NE o “Cordamolla” scende verso la Punta Kennedy separta dal Pizzo Ventina dal Canalone della Vergine.

Tempo di percorrenza: 3 ore. Itinerario fattibile anche in MTB Variante dall’Alpe Piasci, raggiungibile in auto da Torre Santa Maria, bella passeggiata, ideale per famiglie, della durata di 1,30 ore con dislivello di 350 m.

Dal rifugio diverse possibilità di escursioni, dai laghi (Zana, Arcoglio, Cassandra) agli alpeggi (Zana, Mastabbia) ed infine collegamento con la Valmasino.

Vista stupenda sulla spettacolare parete nord del Disgrazia. Tempo di percorrenza: 2.30 h. Possibilità di effettuare un percorso ad anello scendendo dall’itinerario che raggiunge la Val Sissone, molto interessante dal punto di vista geomineralogico. Appena sotto il rifugio il percorso presenta un brevissimo tratto di roccette attrezzato e a tratti, il sentiero in Val Sissone, è su fondo sconnesso.

Nei pressi del rifugio, sentiero glaciologico Vittorio Sella che permette di toccare la fronte del ghiaccio Ventina, salita fino all’incantevole Lago Pirola ed infine presenza di un larice millenario.

Possibility to climb to the shelter from Alpe Laresin (after Forbesina) on steep path that reaches the Alpe Sentieri, the Alpe Zocca and finally the Alpe Ventina.

TIME OF ROUTE: 2.30 hours Near the shelter one can find the path Vittorio Sella that allows to reach the front of Ventina glacier, climb up to the enchanting Pirola lake and finally see a millennial larch.

Il percorso sale dolcemente inoltrandosi in un bosco di larici e abeti lungo una larga mulattiera.

Dopo una trentina di minuti di cammino in dolce pendenza il tracciato raggiunge l’imbocco della Val Ventina: superati un paio di tornanti, si sbuca su un assolato pendio sassoso, dal quale si comincia ad avvistare il rifugio Gerli, che precede di soli 3 minuti il Rifugio Ventina.

E’ inoltre possibile salire all’Alpe Ventina dalla località Laresin (dopo Forbesina) su ripido sentiero.

Tempo di percorrenza: 2.30 h.

After around thirty minutes the trail reaches the entrance of Val Ventina: a couple of hairpin turns lead to a sunny rocky slope, from where hikers can catch the first glimpses of the Gerli shelter, which is only 3 minutes away from the Ventina shelter.

Alpe Ventina can also be reached starting from Laresin (a village near Forbesina) by following a steep path. Time: 2.30 hrs.

COME SI RAGGIUNGE: lasciata l’auto al parcheggio di Pian Del Lupo, sulle rive del torrente; proseguire fino a Forbesina e poi seguire le indicazioni fino al rifugio Tartaglione , posto in un fresco bosco all’imbocco della Val Sissone di fronte al monte Disgrazia . Tempo di percorrenza: 40 minuti con un dislivello di 200 m. Il rifugio, oltre ai tradizionali piatti tipici valtellinesi, è rinomato per le squisite frittelle apprezzate da adulti e bambini.

HOW TO GET THERE: left the car at Pian del Lupo parking, along the river, go on till Forbesina and then follow the indications up to Tartaglione shelter, set in a fresh wood at the entrance of Val Sissone, in front of Mount Disgrazia.

TIME OF ROUTE: 40 minutes with a gradient of 200 m.

Besides the traditional typical dishes from Valtellina, the shelter is famous for the delicious pancakes appreciated by adults and children.

Il 13 settembre del 1850 il topografo svizzero Johan Coaz, durante una campagna di rilievi, raggiunge per primo i 4050 m della vetta del Pizzo Bernina.

Lungo la linea di cresta, che dal Bernina si diparte verso le vette circostanti, corre il confine italo-svizzero mantenendosi costantemente in prossimità dei 4000 m.

Poco sopra la Forcola di Crestaguzza, in territorio italiano, a 3609 m il rifugio Marco e Rosa De Marchi - Agostino Rocca, autentico “nido d’aquile”, inaugurato nel 2003 e affiancato dalla vecchia capanna del 1913, offre un eccellente servizio agli alpinisti lungo la via normale alla montagna.

Numerose le ascensioni possibili sul Bernina e sui suoi satelliti, come il Piz Roseg, Lo Scerscen, lo Zupò, l’Argent le Belleviste e il Palù così come numerose sono le traversate e gli itinerari di escursionismo, impegnative ed emozionanti alle quote più elevate, tranquille e bucoliche negli alpeggi e nei boschi più in basso.

Il Gruppo del Bernin a On September 13th 1850, during a land surveying campaign, the Swiss topographer Johan Coaz was the first man to reach the top of Piz Bernina (4050 m). Along the ridge that extends from Bernina to the neighboring peaks runs the border between Italy and Switzerland at a height that is always close to 4000 m. Not far from Forcola di Crestaguzza, in Italian territory, rises the Marco e Rosa De Marchi – Agostino Rocca shelter, inaugurated in 2003 and built next to the old hut dating back to 1913. This shelter provides an excellent service to the mountaineers who follow the normal trail. Besides the many paths that lead to Bernina and its satellites - Piz Roseg, Scerscen, Zupò, Argent le Belleviste and Palù - there is a wide choice of hiking trails, physically demanding and exciting at the highest altitudes, relaxing and bucolic in the pastures and the woods at lower altitudes.

Week end da fine maggio a primi di ottobre COME SI RAGGIUNGE: Da Chiareggio (indicazioni) il sentiero sale dolcemente a raggiungere l’Alpe e la piana di Fora. Seguendo un ultimo tratto si giunge alla terrazza panoramica ove è posto il rifugio. Il rifugio è raggiungibile anche da San Giuseppe seguendo parte della gippabile che sale fin sotto il rifugio.

Base di partenza per il Pizzo delle Tre Mogge, il Pizzo Malenco, la Sassa d’Entova, la Sassa di Fora e Piz Gluschaint, Traversate al Sasso Nero, alla Val di Fex, ed ai rifugi del Gruppo del Bernina.

COME SI RAGGIUNGE: L’accesso estremamente facile,offre la possibilità di raggiungere il rifugio agli amanti della montagna di ogni età. Dal lago di Gera salire e attraversare il muro della diga. Il rifugio si trova sopra un dosso panoramico ed è ben visibile per tutto l’itinerario di salita. Si raggiunge in circa un'ora di cammino con un dislivello di 400 m. Molto suggestivo il giro della diga che prevede il rientro dall'Alpe Gembrè.

OPENING: from June 20th until mid-September. At weekends from the end of May until the beginning of October.

HOW TO GET THERE: starting from Chiareggio (follow the signs) the path rises gently until it reaches the Alpe Fora and the Fora plain. The last stretch of the itinerary leads to the panoramic terrace on which the shelter was built. The shelter can also be reached from San Giuseppe by following part of the trail accessible by off-road vehicles.

The Longoni hut is a starting point for hikes to Piz Tre Mogge, Piz Malenco, Sassa d’Entova, Sassa di Fora, Piz Gluschaint, Sasso Nero, Val di Fex and the mountain shelters in the Bernina range.

OPENING: from mid March till mid Mai for the ski mountaineering season and from the beginning of June till mid September HOW TO GET THERE: The extremely easy access offers the possibility to reach the shelter to the mountain lovers of any age.

From the lake of Gera one has to climb and cross the wall of the dam. The shelter is above a panoramic hump and is well visible for the whole itinerary of ascent. It is reached in about an hour of walk with a gradient of 400 m. The tour of the dam that foresees the return from Alpe Gembrè is very evocative.

Attraversato il muraglione di prosegue in discesa per circa 50 m. Da qui, seguendo le indicazioni, si supera un primo tratto molto ripido poi il sentiero diventa pianeggiante e, tra i larici, si comincia a scorgere il rifugio. Nella prima parte della salita l’itinerario si snoda nel bosco, poi pian piano la vegetazione si fa sempre più rada fino a sbucare su ampi pascoli.

Il sentiero prosegue poi zigzagando su dossi fino ad arrivare al rifugio posto pochi metri sotto la bocchetta delle Forbici. Si arriva al rifugio in 2.30 ore con un dislivello 700 m OPENING: from mid June till mid September HOW TO GET THERE: left the car at Campo Moro dam, go on in descent for around 50 m, until you reach a very steep path that then becomes level and, among the larchis, one starts to perceive the shelter.

In the first part of the itinerary the path is in the woods; then vegetation becomes sparser and sparser to emerge on ample pastures. The path continues then on humps until one reaches the shelter that is just few meters under the Bocchetta delle Forbici.

The shelter can be reached in 2.30 hours with a gradient of 700 m.

Dopo avere attraversato il muraglione della diga si prosegue in leggere discesa per circa 70 m. Si prosegue seguendo la strada e lasciando alle spalle le indicazioni per i rifugi Carate e Marinelli. Al termine della strada inizia la mulattiera che alterna brevi strappi a tratti pianeggianti. Con un dislivello di 120 m e in circa un’ora di cammino si raggiunge l’Alpe Musella ove è posto il rifugio.

OPENING: from mid-June until mid-Semptember HOW TO GET THERE: the car can be parked near the first dam in Campo Moro. After crossing the dam wall, continue along a short descending trail (about 70 m). Follow the route leaving behind the signs for the Carate and Marinelli shelters. At the end of the road there is the beginning of a mule track characterized by short steep stretches and flat parts. The height difference is roughly 120 m and it takes about 1 hour to reach Alpe Musella, where the shelter is located.

HOW TO GET THERE: starting from Campo Moro, follow the signs for the Carate shelter and from there, walk through the Bocchetta delle Forbici and enter the realm of the “Giants of the Alps”.

The area is characterized by austere landscapes: woods, clearings and pastures give way to scree and glaciers. The shelter hosts the mountaineers who are willing to ascend Piz Bernina and the neighbouring peaks.

La leggenda narra che la Valmalenco e i suoi monti sarebbero il risultato di un miracoloso tramutarsi di uomini in natura. Pizzo Scalino e Valmalenco erano, nella leggenda, due creature che ebbero cinque figli: Chiesa, Caspoggio, Lanzada, Torre e Spriana. Chiesa sposò Mallero e nacquero Primolo, un bel ragazzo viziato che volle metter casa per conto suo, e Chiareggio che andò a vivere coi nonni “Disgrazia” e “Ventina”.

Vedendo la famiglia così unita e armoniosa Dio, continua la leggenda, pensò di rendere eterne queste creature trasformandole in paesi, monti e valli.

Dalla leggenda alla realtà si può notare che tutta la parte orientale della Valmalenco è sotto il dominio del Pizzo Scalino. Con i suoi 3323 m è meta molto frequentata sia d’inverno come meta sci alpinistica sia d’estate. L’ampia cima isolata, sovrastata da una grande croce metallica, offre un panorama grandioso e spettacolare su un orizzonte vastissimo di montagne. Spesso il Pizzo Scalino è fotografato, soprattutto al tramonto, quando le ombre sempre più scure avvolgono il fondovalle e il Pizzo Scalino diventa giallo dorato e rosso grazie alla luce viva dell’ultimo sole calante.

Il Gruppo dello Scalino According to a legend, Valmalenco and its mountains were the result of a miraculous occurence: men turned into nature. Pizzo Scalino and Valmalenco were two creatures that had five children: Chiesa, Caspoggio, Lanzada, Torre and Spriana. Chiesa married Mallero and gave birth to Primolo, a handsome spoiled young man who decided to live on his own, and Chiareggio, who went to live with his grandparents “Disgrazia” and “Ventina”.

Seeing that the members of the family were very close and in harmony with each other, God decided to bless those creatures with immortality by turning them into villages, mountains and valleys. Back to reality, it is clearly visible that the whole Eastern part of Valmalenco is dominated by Pizzo Scalino. 3323 m high, Pizzo Scalino is a popular ski mountaineering destination both in winter and in summer. The wide solitary peak topped by a huge metal cross offers a majestic and spectacular view over an immense panorama of mountains. Dall’Alpe Ponte si gode di ampia vista sulla Valmalenco. Il rifugio può essere raggiunto anche direttamente da Chiesa seguendo un percorso che affianca la funivia e sale rapidamente in circa 1.30 h di cammino. Infine può essere raggiunto anche da Lanzada, nei pressi dell’hotel Mirage, seguono le indicazioni. Disponibilità di bus navetta previo accordo con il rifugista.

OPENING: whole year HOW TO GET THERE: leave the car in a small parking lot right after the first gallery on the road that leads to Campo Franscia. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Campo Franscia by following a steep trail.

Alpe Ponte offers a broad view of Valmalenco.

The shelter can also be reached from Chiesa by following a trail that runs along the cable car and arrives at Alpe Ponte in around 1.30 hrs. Finally, it is also possible to start from Lanzada, near hotel Mirage, and follow the signs. On request, the shelter manager provides a shuttle bus service.

E’ raggiungibile dall'arrivo della funivia Snow Eagle in 20/25 minuti, da S. Giuseppe seguendo le indicazioni per il Rifugio Palu' e poi per il Rifugio Motta, dalla località Ponte o da Campo Franscia in 1h e 30 min. circa.

In inverno ci si puo' arrivare comodamente con gli sci ai piedi in quanto direttamente collocato sulle piste da sci del Palu'.

OPENING: all year round HOW TO GET THERE: the Motta hut is located in the heart of Valmalenco and was built on a panoramic terrace. It can be reached from the arrival point of the Snow Eagle cable car in 20/25 minutes, or starting from S. Giuseppe and following the signs for “Rifugio Palù” and then “Rifugio Motta”, from Ponte or Campo Franscia in 1.30 hrs.

In winter it is possible to ski to the shelter, since it is located on the slopes of the Palù ski area.

Si può utilizzare la funivia che, da Chiesa, sale all’alpe Palù. Da qui un facile sentiero in discesa raggiunge la conca che ospita il lago sulla cui sponda settentrionale sorge il rifugio (1965 m, 1h dalla funivia).

Dalla località Barchi (1700 metri) ci si incammina dapprima lungo una pista da sci per imboccare poi, dopo poche centinaia di metri, la mulattiera che si stacca sulla sinistra e che in circa 1h raggiunge il lago.

OPENING: whole year HOW TO GET THERE: there are several routes that lead to this shelter. The easiest way is to use the cable car that, starting from Chiesa in Valmalenco, reaches the Palù at a height of 2100 meters. From there, an easy hiking trail leads to the wide basin that hosts the lake. On the Northern side of the lake the typical red roof of the shelter shows up among the fir tops (1965 m, 1 hour walk far from the cable car).

Another starting point is Barchi (1700 meters). After parking the car there, walk along a ski slope and, after a few hundred meters, follow the mule track going left. It takes about one hour to reach the lake and its namesake shelter.

COME SI RAGGIUNGE: A soli cinque minuti dal parcheggio di Campo Moro, il Rifugio Zoia regala un panorama unico sulla Valmalenco. E’ stato recentemente ristrutturato e offre, oltre ai tradizionali cameroni, anche camerette con bagno privato.

La cucina offre i migliori piatti della tradizione valtellinese. Una fitta rete di sentieri permette di raggiungere, attraverso fantastici trekking o escursioni in mountain bike, gli altri rifugi della valle, alpeggi e laghetti alpini. In pochi minuti è possibile raggiungere le Falesie dello Zoia, una delle più belle palestre naturali di arrampicata di tutto l’arco alpino. In inverno è il luogo ideale per le ciaspolate e per lo sci alpinismo.

The structure has recently been renovated and, beside the traditional big rooms, it offers smaller rooms with private bathroom. The home kitchen offers the best dishes of Valtellina’s tradition.

From the shelter numerous paths depart allowing to reach, through fantastic trekking or excursions in mountain bike, the other shelters of Valmalenco, the pastures and the alpine lakes. In a few minutes it is possible to reach the Falesie dello Zoia, one of the most beautiful natural climbing gyms in the whole alpine arch. In winter it is the ideal place for snow rackets and ski mountaineering.

It is a great rest stop for the hikers returning from the countless trails of the area or the cliffs of Campo Moro. It also hosts the canyoners who adventure in the underground Cormor creek.

Posto in una graziosa conca naturale solcata da ruscelli, con piccole baite e, nei mesi estivi, animali al pascolo il rifugio, ai piedi del maestoso Pizzo Scalino, è facilmente raggiungibile, sia a piedi che in bikes, seguendo la strada sterrata che arriva nelle vicinanze.

Dal rifugio possibilità di raggiungere i Laghi di Campagneda, il Lago del Mufulè in cui si può pescare e il Pizzo Scalino.

OPENING: from June till September and in winter time from 28/12 till 6/01 and during the weekends till Easter HOW TO GET THERE: as for Cà Runcasch, till the mountain huts in Campascio where, on the right, one can take an easy path, ideal for families, that takes to the refuge in 1.30 hour, with a gradient of 280 m.

Set at the feet of the Pizzo Scalino, in an attractive natural basin, crossed by rivers, with small houses and, during the summer, various beasts to the pasture. The shelter is easily attainable, both on foot and by bike, following the unpaved road that arrives near the hut. From the shelter possibility to reach the lakes of Campagneda and Mufulè where one can fish and the top of Pizzo Scalino.

L’ALTA VIA L’Alta Via della Valmalenco, grazie alla varietà degli ambienti incontrati, è uno dei percorsi escursionistici d’alta quota più belli dell’arco alpino: la ricchezza della flora spontanea, la presenza di antiche cave di pietra ollare, le baite dei maggenghi, le costruzioni pastorali e gli scorci panoramici la rendono unica nel suo genere.

L’Alta Via si sviluppa per oltre 110 Km, tra 800 e 3000 metri, attraversando boschi e alti pascoli, penetrando nelle valli laterali, scavalcando valichi impervi e snodandosi al cospetto delle colate dei ghiacciai del Monte Disgrazia, del Pizzo Bernina e del Pizzo Scalino.

Articolata in otto tappe giornaliere, raccorda fra loro una quindicina di rifugi. Tutto il percorso si svolge su sentieri ben segnalati.

THE HIGH ROUTE L’Alta Via della Valmalenco, thanks to its variety of places, is one of the most beautiful high altitude excursion routes in the Alps: the richness of natural flora, the presence of soapstone old quarries, Mountain huts, shepherds’ buildings and panoramic views make it unique of its kind. Alta Via extends for over 110 Km, between 800 and 3000 metres, through woods and high pastures, passing through lateral valleys, climbing over impassable passes and winding before glaciers flows of Monte Disgrazia, of Pizzo Bernina and of Pizzo Scalino.

Articulated into eight daily stages, it connects some fifteen refuges. All the route develops along three well indicated pathways.

TAPPA 1 Da Torre S.Maria (772 m) al Rifugio Bosio (2097 m) Dislivello-Difference in altitude: +1700/-400 m Tempo di percorrenza-Route time: 7.00 h E’ la tappa che porta in quota: dislivello notevole, ma senza difficoltà.

This is the leg that leads to altitude: notable difference in altitude, but not difficult.

TAPPA 2 Dal Rifugio Bosio (2097 m) ai Rifugi Gerli e Ventina (1960 m) Dislivello-Difference in altitude:+1050/-1200 m Tempo di percorrenza-Route time: 8.00 h Tappa molto lunga a causa dello sviluppo. Il dislivello è concentrato nella risalita della ripida Val Sassersa fino ai laghetti omonimi e al soprastante Passo Ventina.

TAPPA 4 Da Chiareggio (1612 m) al Rifugio Palù al Lago Palù (1947 m) Dislivello-Difference in altitude:+830/-500 m Tempo di percorrenza-Route time: 7.00 h Tappa di trasferimento dal gruppo del Disgrazia a quello del Bernina transitando sul bel terrazzo con laghetto dell’Alpe Fora.

TAPPA 5 Dal Rifugio Palù (1947 m) al Rifugio Marinelli (2813 m) Dislivello-Difference in altitude: +1400/-600 m Tempo di percorrenza-Route time: 5.00 h La tappa introduce nel cuore del Gruppo del Pizzo Bernina (4050 m), la vetta più alta delle Alpi Retiche, al cospetto dei grandi circhi glaciali dello Scerscen.

This stage enters into the heart of the Pizzo Bernina group (4050 m), the highest summit of the Alpi Retiche, to the presence of the great glacial circles of the Scerscen.

TAPPA 6 Dal Rifugio Marinelli (2813 m) al Rifugio Bignami (2401 m) per: a) la Bocchetta di Caspoggio (2983 m), Dislivello-Difference in altitude: +200 /-600 m Tempo di percorrenza-Route time: 2.30 h. b) il Passo Marinelli (3120 m), Dislivello-Difference in altitude: +300/-700 m; Tempo di percorrenza-Route time: 4.00 h.

In entrambi i casi è la tappa più breve, ma è anche la più remunerativa per la bellezza degli ambienti d’alta montagna che si attraversano. Ramponi, piccozza e corda sono indispensabili soprattutto per la variante (b). Altra variante possibile alla Forcella di Fellaria che non presenta difficoltà alpinistiche.

Oltre a molti rifugi della Valmalenco, facilmente raggiungibile dalle famiglie e da chi per la prima volta si avvicina al mondo dell'escursionismo, segnaliamo di seguito qualche semplice itinerario adatto a tutti.

Besides many shelters of Valmalenco, easily attainable from families and who approaches to the world of hiking for the first time, we signal some simple itineraries suitable for all.

I MAGGENGHI DI CASPOGGIO Sant'Antonio (1337 m) oppure la Motta (1480 m) Dislivello di salita: 200 m fino a Sant'Antonio 350 m fino alla Motta - to Sant'Antonio - 350 m to La Motta Tempo di salita: 1.30h fino a Sant'Antonio - 2.30 h fino alla Motta - to Sant'Antonio - 2.30 h to La Motta Dal centro storico di Caspoggio si raggiunge la contrada Negrini dove è possibile visitare la “truna” una delle maggiori curiosità etnografiche di Caspoggio. Si prosegue poi su sterrata fino all'abitato di Sant Antonio, dove una caratteristica chiesa domina il maggengo nei pressi delle due seggiovie. Da qui possiamo proseguire sull'itinerario denominato "sentiero del latte" fino alla Motta di Caspoggio da dove si gode di ampia vista sul fondovalle.

Il ritorno può essere effettuato lungo lo stesso itinerario oppure molto consigliabile è scendere verso Prabello–Santa Elisabetta, così da effettuare un itinerario ad anello. Nei pressi della contrada si trova un piccolo allevamento di alpaca dal quale si imbocca il sentiero per la contrada Negrini.

From the centre of Caspoggio one can reach Negrini district and visit the “truna”, one of the most important ethnographic curiosities in Caspoggio. Carry on an excavated road to the houses of Sant’Antonio where a characteristic church dominates the pastures near to the two chair lifts.

From there, continue on the path called "Sentiero del latte" (“milky path”) to La Motta of Caspoggio where you can enjoy a panoramic sight on the bottom of the valley.

The return can be done along the same itinerary or, very advisable, go down toward Prabello – Santa Elisabetta in order to do a loop. There you will find a small alpaca breeding from where you take again the path back to Negrini district.

LA CIVILTÀ DELLA PIETRA OLLARE Dislivello - Difference in altitude: 374 m Tempo di percorrenza - Route time: 3.00 h All’ingresso di Primolo (fermata dell’autobus) ha inizio la mulattiera che si inoltra nel lariceto con una serie di tornanti poi a sinistra, con un tratto pianeggiante. Superati due valloni, si oltrepassa un dosso, dal quale si gode una splendida vista sulla Valmalenco e Pizzo Scalino. Lasciando sulla destra il sentiero per Pradaccio, si prosegue passando accanto agli antichi torni ad acqua per la lavorazione della pietra ollare. Oltre il torrente Sassersa si incontra un opificio utilizzato per la tornitura della pietra ollare. Proseguendo, oltrepassato un belvedere detto Crun, si giunge all’area estrattiva posta alla sommità dell’insediamento. Da qui si prosegue fino al bellissimo laghetto dell’Alpe Pirlo e, superato il maggengo, si segue la traccia che scende alla sinistra e si ritorna a Primolo dallo stesso itinerario di salita.

At the entry of Primolo (bus stop) starts the mule track that forwards in the wood of larches with some turns and then a level land. After passing two valleys and a bump, you can enjoy a beautiful sight on Valmalenco and Pizzo Scalino. Leave the path to Pradaccio to the right and go on close to the old water lathe for the manufacturing of the “ollare” stone, after crossing the stream Sassersa. Passing the panoramic viewpoint called “Crun”, you will get to the extractive place and from there you can carry on to the beautiful lake of Alpe Pirlo. Follow the path on the left and go down to Primolo from the same itinerary of ascent.

GIRO DEI TRE PONTI Dislivello - Difference in altitude: 70 m Tempo di percorrenza - Route time:1h Da Chiareggio si raggiunge Pian del Lupo e, superato il ponte sul torrente che scende dalla valle del Muretto, Forbesina dove, per un breve tratto, ci si immette sul percorso dell’Alta Via verso est.

Superato il ponte poco oltre la confluenza dei torrenti Sissone e Ventina, si imbocca il sentiero che fiancheggia il torrente verso valle fino al ponte che da accesso alla strada per l’Alpe Ventina dove si chiude l’anello.

Reach Pian del Lupo from Chiareggio and overcome the bridge on the stream that goes down from the Muretto valley. For a short time, you find yourself on the path of Alta Via. When you pass the bridge just after the confluence of Sissone and Ventina streams, take the path that goes along the river towards the valley till the bridge that gives access to the road to Alpe Ventina, where the ring finds its end.

IL FAGGIO SECOLARE DI LANZADA Dislivello - Difference in altitude: 100 m Tempo di percorrenza - Route time: 2.30 h per l’anello Chiesa-Tornadri e rientro for the ring Chiesa-Tornadri and back Breve e piacevole passeggiata per tutti, particolarmente consigliabile anche nei mesi invernali, perchè ben esposta al sole e al riparo dai venti. Dal Curlo si raggiunge in breve la contrada Pedrotti. Da qui il sentiero taglia a mezzacosta il versante lungo una serie ininterrotta di terrazzamenti dai quali si gode di un bel panorama sulla valle.

Lungo il percorso non potremo non rimaner colpiti dalla maestosità di un secolare faggio, che si incontra proprio sul sentiero, nei pressi di Lanzada.

Raggiunta la contrada Moizi oppure Lanzada (poco più avanti) è possibile rientrare con un percorso ad anello dirigendosi verso Vassalini. Il sentiero che scende a Lanzada sbuca a fianco dell'hotel Mirage e da li si può rienrare percorrendo il sentiero ciclopedonale che corre a fianco del torrente Lanterna.

Per chi volesse è possibile proseguire fino a Tornadri per rientrare sempre dal sentiero sopra menzionato.

Brief and pleasant walk suitable for everybody especially during the winter because well exposed to the sun and repaired from the winds. Reach Pedrotti district from Curlo district. From there, take a path that cuts the mountain with a beautiful view over the valley. Along the path you cannot miss an ancient beech close to Lanzada. As you reach Moizi district or Lanzada (just further), it is possible to come back to Vassalini in a loop. The path that goes down to Lanzada emerges close to the hotel Mirage and from there it is possible to come back along a path for both bikes and pedestrians that runs along the stream Lanterna. If you prefer, it is possible to carry on till Tornadri to come back from the same path.

LA VAL POSCHIAVINA

ALL’ALPE ENTOVA

Dislivello - Difference in altitude: 200 m Tempo di percorrenza - Route time: 2.20 h Dal parcheggio alla base della diga di Alpe Gera si sale fino alla sommità della stessa; da qui si percorre la mulattiera che costeggia il lago lungo il suo lato orientale fino al bivio per l’Alpe Gembrè, il giro del lago e il Rifugio Bignami. La stradella presenta il fondo cementato di recente per consentire l’accesso ai mezzi agricoli al pianoro sede dell’alpeggio.

La vallata si presenta molto ampia e pianeggiante, tagliata dal torrente e circondata da numerose falesie vera e propria palestra di arrampicata.

From Alpe Gera dam parking, go on to the top of it and take the mule track that goes along the lake up to the crossroads for Alpe Gembrè, the tour of the lake and Bignami hut. The valley is wide and flat, cut by the river and surrounded by numerous cliffs for climbing.

Dislivello - Difference in altitude: 450 m Tempo di percorrenza - Route time: 3h Dal'albergo Sasso Nero il sentiero inizia al secondo tornante (curva a destra), segue a sinistra una mulattiera che, attraversando i prati tra tipiche baite isolate ed altre di recente ristrutturazione, raggiunge i pascoli sotto la località Braccia. Da qui, raggiunto un bivio, si lascia sulla sinistra il sentiero che porta a Palolungo e si continua salendo inizialmente nei prati ed entrando, di seguito, nel bosco misto di conifere, dove si incrocia la sterrata che sale da S.Giuseppe. Proseguendo sempre nel bosco si costeggia il torrente Entovasco fino a sbucare all'Alpe Entova. Il ritorno può essere fatto dallo stesso itinerario di salita oppure dalla sterrata che collega San Giuseppe a Entova.

From hotel Sasso Nero, the path starts at the second turn (on the right) and then follows a mule track through the pastures under Braccia. From there, at the crossroad, leave the path that leads to Palolungo on the left and carry on through the pastures and the woods where you meet the excavated road that comes from S. Giuseppe.

Through the woods, go along the stream Entovasco up to Entova Alp. The way back can be done from the same itinerary of ascent or from the road that leads from San Giuseppe to Entova.

L’ALPE DELL'ORO Dislivello - Difference in altitude: 400 m Tempo di percorrenza - Route time: 3h Da Chiareggio il percorso segue la strada militare per il passo del Muretto. Dopo l’abitato del Pian del Lupo si prosegue a destra lungo ampi tornanti. Man mano si prende quota la vegetazione diventa sempre più rada scoprendo alla vista la Val Sissone con il monte Disgrazia, la Cima di Rosso, di Vazzeda e il Monte del Forno.

L’Alpe dell’ Oro è posta su un terrazzo naturale poco oltre i 2000 m di quota a destra rispetto alla strada principale che continua nella valle verso il Passo del Muretto. Dall’ Alpe dell’ Oro il panorama si allarga a ventaglio comprendendo le cime della Valle del Ventina e della Val Sissone, dal Pizzo Cassandra all’

intero gruppo del Disgrazia.

Il ritorno può essere effettuato seguendo lo stesso itinerario di salita oppure compiendo una stupenda traversata in quota, vivamente consigliata. In questo caso l’itinerario si allunga notevolmente. Circa 1.30 h per arrivare all’Alpeggio di Fora e altri 45 minuti per scendere a Chiareggio.

From Chiareggio the path follows the military road to the Muretto Pass. Passing through Pian del Lupo, carry on to the right along ample turns. As you climb, the vegetation becomes sparser showing to the sight the Val Sissone with Mount Disgrazia, the Cima di Rosso, the Vazzeda and Monte del Forno. The golden Alp is on a natural balcony at 2000 m on the right of the main road that goes on the valley to the Muretto Pass. From the Golden Alp the panorama becomes wider to the tops of Ventina and Sissone valleys, Pizzo Cassandra and the whole group of Disgrazia.

The return can be done following the same itinerary of ascent or with a marvellous crossing, warmly recommended.

In this case, the itinerary becomes longer, nearly 1.30 h to reach Alpeggio di Fora and 45 minutes more to go down to Chiareggio.
