HR FEATURE Okeito Plunkett – Okeito has been a dedicated employee since his first day of employment. He consistently goes above and beyond his assigned responsibilities within the Hygiene and Pest Control Unit.

During the initial stages of the COVID-19 crisis, he cooperated with the organization's policy decisions and demonstrated the ability to understand teamwork, team spirit and performance standards. Mr. Plunkett has displayed good leadership qualities, assisting to lead the Hygiene and Pest Control team. His personality enables him to get along with team members and his contribution to the organization’s productivity levels and cost savings initiatives are significant.

The People Priority Plan The People Priority Plan seeks to Manage Talent by engaging individual employees, together with the organization to achieve the desired performance goals.

This is about managing success, measuring performance, productivity, and the strategies that go with creating the golden employee.

Kerith Palmer – Kerith is dependable and focused. He makes it clear that he is here to work and not idle. He runs the lines consistently ensuring minimal downtime. If the production line is having operational challenges, he immediately contacts his supervisor and will initiate the problem-solving activities. He consistently demonstrates creativity and innovation ensuring the achievement of production targets. Mr. Palmer is a team player and his quality of work consistently exceeds expectations.

This is an employee empowered to deliver Seprod’s key productivity, revenue growth, efficiency and business financial targets. Seprod “SPARK” represents the productivity drivers and enablers for “Creating the Golden Employee.”

Delroy Mattison – Delroy has shown his commitment since day one. He began as a member of the Bleach Plant line. His attitude and level of commitment has resulted in his promotion to Operator at the Bleach Plant and now Trainee Miller. Mr. Mattison’s positive attitude towards his job ensures his performance exceeds expectations. Delroy was recently given the opportunity to operate as a shift miller.

During this assignment, targets were achieved above the established standards.

He assumed the responsibility with pride and demonstrated that he is indeed an asset to the Milling department.

Today, we wish to introduce you to three (3) team members of Jamaica Grain and Cereals, who have recently gone above and beyond in their duties – Okeito Plunkett, Kerith Palmer and Delroy Mattison. They are a part of the Operations of the Production Department that comprises three subsections – Hygiene and Pest Control, Packing and Milling.

MEET THE BRANDS AT FACEY COMMODITY

Facey Commodity is making strides during the COVID-19 pandemic as the company continues to give Jamaicans more health conscious options in improving their lifestyles. Facey Commodity has been leading over 50 brands at the Pharmaceutical Division.

Facey Commodity has been actively playing its part during the COVID-19 pandemic with the distribution of Trojan condoms, by sampling condoms through Children's First Bashy Bus Mobile HIV Testing Unit. Trojan has also been offering masks to customers and consumers who buy condoms in 14 select Pharmacies as well as the employees throughout the company.

“Trojan condoms have been playing their part in keeping persons safe from unwanted Pregnancies, STD/ STI and the Coronavirus”, said Bobette Bolton, Brand Manager at Facey Commodity who has over 15 years of experience of sales and marketing with the company.

Oxiclean is also doing its part as it provides the perfect non-bleach disinfectant/cleaner for persons who: • Prefer an alternative to bleach • Prefer an environmentally friendly cleaning and disinfecting product • Have bleach allergies

Arm and Hammer through its “more power to you” campaign which is an activity that began during the Covid crisis in 2020 provided masks to staff and to customers participating in the initiative. Facey Commodity is also distributors of the Ferrol line of products that are perfect for the prevention and treatment of cold/flu related illnesses as it helps in the strengthening of the Immune System. CELEBRATING 80 YEARS

Seprod Foundation Protection and Hygiene Packages Donation Seprod Foundation saw it imperative to remind Jamaicans to be safe during these unprecedented times with a donation of 1,000 masks and 510 bars of soap to 13 Homes and 2 Primary Schools along with informative safety tip flyers. Donations were made to a number of homes including Glenhope Place of Safety Nursery, Jamaica National Children’s Home, and the City of Refuge Children’s Home. In alignment with the sustainable development goal of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages, Seprod Foundation is focused on ensuring that these homes and primary schools in our communities have the resources needed to maintain the health and safety of the staff and children in the ongoing fight against COVID-19.

PEP Scholarship Awards – 2020 Conquerors

One of Seprod Foundation’s top development priorities include strengthening our communities, one individual at a time, through scholarships and grants.

Seprod Foundation awarded 40 new scholarships to PEP students. This continues the ongoing scholarships awarded to 108 students overall. We continue to recognize the Late Granville Marsh’s contribution to the company through the Granville Marsh Scholarship Award which was awarded to two top performing students from St. Thomas - Abigail Hunnigan and Kinordo Crawford.

Danae Palmer copped the coveted Byron Thompson Award for Academic Achievement. This year, the 2020 recipients were applauded virtually on January 25th and they were motivated to keep conquering their goals from guest speaker, Shani McGraham Shirley.

CASE Scholarship Awards We celebrated the 5 CASE scholars who performed well academically, while giving back to their school and communities, through a virtual ceremony held on February 26th. The scholars shared a bit about themselves and what their scholarship meant to them. With the focus on “The State of Agriculture: Where Do We Go From Here?” the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, The Honorable Floyd Green, MP, the President of JMEA and CEO of Seprod, Richard Pandohie and the President of CASE, Dr. Derrick Deslandes presented on relevant topics to get the scholars thinking about available opportunities in the agriculture industry. Seprod Foundation believes that it is important to promote food security by encouraging and fostering students’ interests in agriculture at the secondary and tertiary school levels and providing available opportunities for these young people through scholarships and internships, while also providing nutritional support where needed.
