PROJECT OVERVIEW In response to the evolving needs of the academic community and with a commitment to providing an optimal learning environment, the National University of Singapore (NUS) embarked on a comprehensive five-year project to renovate and expand the Medicine + Science Library (MSL). The central goal of this endeavor was not only to enhance the physical structure but also to redefine the library’s role as a pivotal knowledge hub for the medical and science faculties.

KEY FEATURES

Architectural Design: The new MSL stands as an impressive four-story building, strategically designed to harmonize with the surrounding campus architecture.

Capacity and Spatial Planning: Boasting a capacity of over 1,200 seats, the MSL’s spatial planning prioritizes flexibility and functionality. Various zones cater to diverse requirements, offering quiet study areas, exhibition spaces, and a recording and editing studio.

Collaborative Spaces: The interior features carefully curated collaborative spaces equipped with flexible, mobile furniture. These areas foster a conducive environment for group discussions, training sessions, and interdisciplinary collaborations, promoting a culture of knowledge exchange and teamwork.

This multifaceted space not only caters to the mental health needs of students and faculty but also accommodates the diverse requirements of staff, providing hotdesking areas, counselling rooms, and yoga training facilities.
