PROJECT OVERVIEW In response to the evolving needs of the academic community and with a commitment to providing an optimal learning environment, the National University of Singapore (NUS) embarked on a comprehensive five-year project to renovate and expand the Medicine + Science Library (MSL). The central goal of this endeavor was not only to enhance the physical structure but also to redefine the library’s role as a pivotal knowledge hub for the medical and science faculties.

Architectural Design: The new MSL stands as an impressive four-story building, strategically designed to harmonize with the surrounding campus architecture. Capacity and Spatial Planning: Boasting a capacity of over 1,200 seats, the MSL’s spatial planning prioritizes flexibility and functionality. Various zones cater to diverse requirements, offering quiet study areas, exhibition spaces, and a recording and editing studio. Collaborative Spaces: The interior features carefully curated collaborative spaces equipped with flexible, mobile furniture. These areas foster a conducive environment for group discussions, training sessions, and interdisciplinary collaborations, promoting a culture of knowledge exchange and teamwork.
