After graduating from Marquette University, Ms. Ratcliffe moved to Georgia from Evanston, Illinois. She took on a new sales territory, making her the Southeastern Regional Manager for the Kathryn Beich Candy Company. Kathryn Beich was one of the top-selling fundraising companies in the United States at the time. However, Ms. Ratcliffe’s career changed when Nestle bought the Beich Company.
One evening, Ms. Ratcliffe was involved in a home invasion which left her blind. However, she has not allowed her disability to defeat her. Ms. Ratcliffe’s hobbies include hand sewing and quilting. She is a mother of three daughters and has three granddaughters, two great granddaughters and one great grandson.
In October 2017, Ms. Ratcliffe experienced a hypoglycemic episode. The paramedics referred her to the Aging Program for her to participate in the Meals on Wheels Program. Receiving the Meals on Wheels has been very beneficial. Ms. Ratcliffe is impressed with the variety of the meals; she feels that most of them are gourmet lunches. Her favorite driver, LeAndre Gandy, is very helpful as well. He reads the package label to her, tells her what is included in the meal, gives further insight on how it tastes and offers reheating suggestions. He also assists her with additional tasks like taking out the trash.
Since being in the Meals on Wheels Program, Ms. Ratcliffe has been able to manage her diabetes much better. She is very thankful to be able to receive services through the Aging Program.
