Last year, SENIOR LIFE put out a call for local models. More than 120 boomers and seniors applied. Some were professional models and others had never considered modeling until now. After narrowing the search to about 75 men, women and some children, the models were invited to the Viera office for an initial “Go See.” There, they shared a little more about their interests and preferences, which aided further in the search for the perfect cover for the 2011 Boomer/Senior Guide. t Models and photographers met in different locations for t various shots and each time, the decision became increasingly more difficult. At age 89, Artie Ulmer of Melbourne is now officially the oldest bowler ever to score a perfect game of 300, which he achieved on Dec. 7 in the sanctioned Leisure Seniors League at Shore Lanes in Palm Bay. But that’s not the only exciting thing that has ever happened to him. Originally from Hicksville, N.Y., Ulmer served in World War II in the Air Force aboard a B-24 bomber and also manned the upper machine gun turret during bombing raids.
